Mine is a late rev2 also, but its 15 years I think now to qualify. I guess unmodified though, or alteast only mildly modified.

cheaper than £300?
depends who you go with, footman james and aplan say 20 years, classicline and sky say 15
age also differs, sky say minimum age 30, classicline say 25

I'm quite gutted really cos the initial quote was £246, which raised my eye brow. Was gutted they wouldn't do it with the mods though.

At the moment I'm insured with Sky, but it runs out in Jan, and Chris Knott (via MR2OC) has gave me the best quote by £50.

Got to try A-Plan next but im off out to get drunk today :)

A-plan were by far the cheapest for me but their policy was very flawed, 10% refund if i decided to ever cancel the policy, no discount whatsoever if i changed my mileage from 10k to 2k or even if i changed my power figure from 420 bhp to 265 bhp,

Also of interest they said that the policy i took out was the cheapest that the insurance did for my modifications, On asking for more info they said that the insurance company they used for me were using there lowest policy settings, so when thinking about it where was my club discount :-k , do they actually give you a discount or is it just a scam to give you the impression you're getting a better deal :-k

Always read the small print before signing anything

I had some bell end at Adrian Flux try tell me my power output was wrong for my mods, the way he was listing stuff was like he had a Max Power book of mods sat in front of him!

I will NEVER call them for a quote again after that rude arrogant ar$ehole!

I'm tempted to call just to try and get this same nob. Sounds like the convo would be a hoot

I've dug out my renewal quote so will be giving Chris Knott a try. :thumleft:

i shall be reading fine print next time.

cant complain about price at £280 thou 26 7 years ncb, and one of the best post codes for unsurance

How on earth did they explain that one? They agreed to cover one MR2 Turbo right? But wouldnt pay out unless it was a uk car right? Even though that car is ONLY an import, right?

Huh?

watch out with admiral, elephant and bell. They didnt tell me a payment hadnt gone through, so cancelled my insurance. I drove around for about a month without insurance before they actually called to ask about adding hire car onto my policy.

I had a chat about it and the woman on the phone said "oh, it appears your policy was cancelled a month ago... so I can't add the hire car on".

I was raging. Why could they not have phoned or emailed to let me know? My car could have been crushed and I could have lost my liscence!

They also take advantage of you if you are a nice person. You phone up, and deal with youre quote, and they keep you on their £1.50 a minute phone line for as long as possible. Im not one for being rude to someone on the phone, they're doing their job in the end... but when I politely say goodbye and they keep reading the xxxxxx bull$h1t script they have, it really busts my balls.

Adrian Flux is just the oddest lot I've dealt with. They wouldn't give up phoning me even though they admitted they couldn't get near other quotes! Anyway six years ncb and no points at 37. Tesco insurance cost me £350 TPFT incl turbo timer, apexi gt exhaust and arc induction. Compared to other quotes it was the lowest non internet one and were excellent to deal with.

It may have something to do with listing crashes in last 5 years. One where I touched the rear of an Astra cost like £150. Other £7,200 my fault where I hit a scammer who defo had his rears turned off and yes they both claimed whiplash. Both in a works van so no probs with the NCB but they must take these things into consideration. The guy I bought the car from was paying £2,500 so it's not that bad, mind you at under 21 and driving a Rev3 T maybe he'd done well!

Even thats crazy! Boy I feel like Ive been blessed. When i was 21, way back when insurance companies ran for the hill if you so much as had fuel injection, I was paying about £900 on a 225hp turbocharged Escort RS with all mods declared!!!!!!

Only thing of significance i can think of is that I've never had an accident that was my fault other then one years ago when I slipped on ice and hit a few other cars.

Adrian Flux win for me, 20 years old 3 years ncb, all mods declared on fully comp insurance for just over 1000.

im on a modified classic policy apparently. They love you if your young and have mods, any other insurance company associate the car with a young driver and turn you away.
