what else affects the distance the hub sits away from the struts ?... I had brand new KW coilovers fitted...

the diameter of the springs / spring collar (outside) is 3" - that's pretty much standard for coilovers isnt it :-k

Right then.. thanks to Becci (ducatichick) =D> i now know that these wheels fit a standard suspension set up (with 5mm spacers on front)

So my question is.. how the hell can having coilovers on my car make it IMPOSSIBLE to fit these rims when they fit on standard struts ???

anyone know ???

the next thing is to fit them on a car with Tein Coilovers (will be doing that when i get my car back)... if they fit with them then i guess i know where the fault lies #-o

what do people think then eh ? :-k ](*,) :-k

cheers
Frank.

I have been rattling on about this for months but nobody ever seems to listen!.

Coilovers usually REDUCE the width of front rim you can run - why? Its usually down to the ride height adjustment collar that fouls the top of the wheel. The stock struts dont have this, so they actually give you more room (width). Coilovers do give you more space above the wheel, but restrict your tyre width. So, you could probably run a 215x45 front quite easily, but a 235x40 (like mine) just wont fit.

This isnt the case with all coilovers, but I have never seen a set on an MR2 that give you more space (width wise) than the stock suspension struts.

Jonno.. the reason I'm confused is that Bryan Stone (BRY) currently has coilovers, 8Jrims upfront with 215/40/17's 5mm spacers and fit fine.

Mine do not.... I'm now assuming the offset that was stated when i bought them was infact WRONG.

I will find out next week when myself and Bry will be swapping wheels in an attempt to find out exactly where the difference lays.

Is there an et(xx) stamped on the rear of the wheel anywhere?

Frank they won't fit because the offset is going to be different :p

Coilovers reduce the space as the spring is coiled over the strut. (guess why they call them coilovers? ;))

Standard struts have their springs at the top of the strut above the wheel so clearence is never an issue.

Just get a set of decent spacers and either get the arches flared or get a wide arch kit ;)

and stop being so gay :p :D:D:D:D:D

Frank I had the same problem with my last 2, had coilover's fitted put the original 15" wheel's on and they rubbed against the coilover #-o 5mm spacers done the job, for 1 day anyway.

The next day i put my 18's on and got the same problem ](*,) solution was to put 10mm spacers but the wheel bolt's wouldn't reach the stud's anyway ended up getting longer hub stud's and using 10mm spacers with no rubbing and no further problem's, same case as yours though it was only the front's causing problem's.

Hope that help's

Yas
