One or Two people in the North West have been looking to set up such a service for some time now, however, I use the term "some time" for a reason!

I am reluctant to give out there details any more tbh, due to the repetitive "in a few months" answer they are giving out.

Lauren is having some spray work done, so perhaps she can advise soon, she is in Macc. Otherwise Paul Woods is the best bet.

Depends where in the NW you are.

I am having all the rear arches and a few other bits done on my MK1. I would have liked to use Paul Woods, but as the car isn't MOT'd I popped down to a local bodyshop who say they can do it for £500 which includes some 'un-colour' coding (its an 86 car so bumpers are going back to black etc).

Obviously I can't know exactly how well it will turn out, though lucky for me the guys there know of me sort of thing and one of them owns a MK1 the same as mine.

I have ordered all the panels from JDG and hopefully they should arrive tomorrow so i'm hoping to get it in for the work in the next week or so.

I'll no doubt report back once it has been restored and if you like the results perhaps these guys could be worth trying.

Whereabouts in the NW are you?

hi,i could have sorted you out no problem at all,i restore mk1s for a living and they turn out 100% right.....however this weekend ive had the xxxx ripped out of my garage, the winds have damaged 3 or 4 cars, one extensively up one side, its taken walls and fences down and generally f*cked the place right up! Its going to take me months to get this lot sorted out if at all,i may have to shut shop.....im lucky to have a roof left on but at one time it did lift by 6 inches and drop back down again!

Ive had to ask several customers to come and collect their cars for fear of further damage occuring this week, last night the winds were really bad,im dreading going in to see whats happened.

As for the work itself it would be done to a very high standard and no shortcuts taken (ive seen these jobs) but im on the verge of having no business after these storms and i wont be able to give you a definate answer for a while, very sorry, paul.

cheers lauren, the place is wrecked! visitors to my place will know what a windy hole it is in the middle of summer let alone when the rest of the uk is getting a ramming....maybe thats why a wind farm has just been built opposite the garage??????

Upshot is im not out of business just yet but another few nights like that and im homeless!

Paul, hope your garage is back up and running in no time!

Lauren, have you bought panels from JDG before? Do you know if they a perfect fit etc?

No I haven't though from what I hear they have a good reputation. I haven't seen them yet as they went straight to the bodyshop, will have a look when i drop the car off, hopefully next week.

the guy at JDG was quite keen for me to go and inspect and collect the panels if i wanted to, but it wasn't exceptionally near so i got them shipped instead.

I should think Paul is better qualified to comment on the quality of the panels.

i`ve bought panels from them,my garage said they were ok but not a perfect fit.the last one i ordered took so long to arrive the bodyshop made their own.i was promised next day delivery i sent cash .the cash arrived on the tuesday.i spoke to the bodyshop saying its going to be next day so thur/friday at the latest.a week later nothing had arrived.i was told on the phone its christmas and we have had a few orders in.if you dont mean next day dont say it. so in short i will not be buying anything from them again.i wonder if the panel ever arrived? i had the car back all finished and never asked!
