Re: dump valve help please
An aftermarket dump valve will simply replace the stock black plastic one already fitted to your car.
However be warned, on rev1 and rev 2 cars a dump valve
( and by that I take it you mena one which will blow the air to atmosphere) will upset the running of your car no end.
It will run rough, drink fuel and dent performance.
Simply put the device will make the car miscalculate the air it
'thinks' it's putting into the engine.

This has been cover a million times of the years.

Re: dump valve help please
second that
.
because rev 1/2 have airflow meters
, venting to the atmosphere will cause rough running
, stalling and running to rich.
the air has already been metered and the engine fuelled accordingly.

it can be done without buying an aftermarket dump valve though
, by running the stock bov to the atmos
!
removing the recirc pipe

disconnect it from the bov end and remember to bung it up with a large bolt or something as otherwise it will suck in extra air into the intake pipe to turbo.

i wouldnt bother though myself
, but you could try it i guess
.

The one im selling seems to work well on my car but then its always been on there.

If you buy it and dont like it you'll easily be able to sell it on.
have a go

Got Boost?!
Re: dump valve help please
I had one on my Rev1 Turbo and it didn't affect the running in any way shape or form.

However it was not a Bailey one and I have heard bad things about them in connection with Rev1s and Rev2s.

standard recirc with pipe pulled off will run like xxxx, i run a baileys with no problems mate, give it a try,

Re: dump valve help please
You may not notice any specific running issues with a VTA BOV on a a Rev1/2
(stalling, rough idle/running etc) but the simple fact is that it WILL be dumping air that has already been metered through the Air Flow Meter which is never a good thing as that's what the ECU uses to calculate the injector pulse and timing.

In short, it will be running rich.

Think youre missing the point buddy.

If you want lots of noise drama then get a good aftermarket air filter, decat it and get a good exhaust, then you should get all kinds of whoooshs and thups as the turbo spins up and down.

Re: dump valve help please
Stick with the stock recirc mate, your car will run better for it even though you might not notice it.
If you really want to run a vta bov then do a rev3 conversion and get rid of the air flow meter.

Re: dump valve help please
My Rev2 had a Bailey BOV in that position when I bought it.
I ran it that way for 2 years with no apparent problems but didn't like the idea that the car wasn't performing as it should so eventually changed it for a 2nd hand stock one during a trip to Rogue.
Immediately noticed a big improvement in fuel consumption plus on cold mornings I get a little bit of compressor surge which sounds far better than a chavvy dump valve

Whats more important to you, having a car that runs properly, with a nice quick spooling turbo thanks to the recirc or one that overfuels and can be lumpy yet draws attention by sounding like every WRX/Escort RS Turbo blatting around Britains' council estates?

Re: dump valve help please
I think the HKS SSQV can be set up to recirc so you still get the sound but it doesnt mess up the running of the car.
