[Mk2] [NA] HID PROBLEMS...........

Post by Andy-M »

Well winter time is here again and with the dark nights drawing in, poo weather and MR2`s
blessed the most useless headlamps in the world thought i would tread myself to some HID`s
Scanning the thousands of post`s about them came to the concusion that you get what you pay for. So forked out a bit extra and got these babies, all sourced in the uk and the guy`s just round the corner.

Ordered kit got the next day, kit well made just the job. Fitted it in half an hour only four plugs job done. BUT.................. dip beam works fine, light pattern brillent but i have no main beam. All the is flick on main beam for a nano second and got back to dip beam.
Now in fairness the guy said never had a problem before bla bla bla... but send them back. But its going through all the hassell of sending them back.
Just woundered if anybody else had this problem and there being a easy fix or something ive missed.

I was looking at the same kit as it looks GVFM but will wait and see the outcome of yours :-)
If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination.

must admit my headlights are great but certainly not a patch on the modern HID units. Hope you get it sorted quickly

All sorted....... \:D/ One of the reasons i purchased this kit was the company selling these kit`s is that its 20 min drive away. So lunch time a popped round there. The kit he had supplied me has the blaist and relay for switching from hi/low all built in one. Good idea but don`t work on a MR2. So the guy supplied me the older style it were you have a separate switching relay. 20 minutes later after getting home all wired in and work a good`n. Ok the blue hi-beam warning light don`t work now , but apparently his a common problem with fitting these kits. This can be solved by wiring in a relay which can be done at a later date. By this time its getting dark. Time to go for a drive. What a difference, you can see were your going and not one flash from drivers coming the other way................... :thumleft:
