[Mk2] [NA] Engine refresh on Rev 1 - ADVICE Please

Post by jason_pmr2 »

Am planning to remove my rev 1 head and replace the gasket and reseat the valves etc(Engine is old and tired- needs a freshen up).
however i was thinking....is there a quick and easy way to get a tiny bit more power while im there - i.e maybe stick in a rev 3 camshaft or something, or perhaps putting a rev 3 head on(Im guessing ill have to sway to a rev 3 loom and get hold of all the manifolds and ancillaries though?). Any suggestions?

Replace the Head Gasket with a Rev 3 Gasket, there Multi Layered Steel as standard, Fit a CT20.
What other mods have you got? Normal bolt on mods will give you a good power hike. De-Cat, Free flowing exhaust, Induction Kit. Aftermarket intercooler and then a boost increase. That'll probably see you around 270hp

Sorry my mistake, I should of read that before posting, sorry.
I would say just do as you said, give it a good clean, re seat the valves ect and put it back together. I dont think it is worth swapping to Rev 3 cams, maybe a set of aftermarket cams.

Craig.
