[Mk2] [Turbo] Odd light problems

Post by Baker »

Just noticed today that my rear lights dont work, neither do the sidelights, or the front and rear foggies.

but, they driving and main beams do work, as do the rears when the foot brake is applied.

i have just recently chopped the wires to the cigarette lighter, would this cause the problems? or is this a fuse/relay problem?

thanks

No worries, maybe tomoz then.

If its working you have power all the way to the no. plate light the same line as the rear sidelights but they have different earth, same earth as brake lights.

Rear lights are earthed on back panel centre, brake light is earthed at left centre pillar I think.

Which would suggest its a earth fault, possibly backed up by them working when you press the brake.

You may well be right about an earth problem, i have just installed an intercooler which meant i removed a few earth points from the engine bay.

i'll check tomorrow.

ps, does this interfere with the front sidelights and fogs though, as these dont work either.

No different earth again, but its worth re-attaching everything you took off.

They are all fed from a 50AMP fuse (AM1) in engine compartment top left, check that too. :thumleft:

Is your warning light button wired up ? i removed my dash to fit a new stereo and forget to plug it back in, as a result my indicators didn't work.
