[Mk2] [Turbo] Temperature measuring with Radtec C/C

Post by Clearsky »

I am looking for ideas on how to measure and display charge air and water temperatures on a Radtec chargecooler??

Pico TC08 and lots of thermocouples.

I was thinking more about something I could read in the car, some sort of digital displays. Also where could I locate the thermocoulpe probes on the chargecooler/pipework.

Does the radtech have an overflow pipe? If so you could measure cc water and inlet temps in the same way I do using a probe run through the cc oveflow pipe and another probe through the blanked off pipe on the bottom of the inlet manifold.

No there is no over flow pipe, I have been looking at surface mounting thermocouple probes that stick on to the pipework. I think this would be fine for the air inlet temperature with a suitable display. I am not sure what to do about the water temp though. I might just go with an air inlet temp for the time being. I think that is the most important to monitor.

thermo coulpes through the clips that hold the pipe work together,
and a 12 volt lcd display from rs components also the thermocouples are a rs stock item
i have the 3 sensors at the minute as im trying to lower charge temps
if you get stuck pm me and ill give you a ring

Dont know if it helps, but I do a kit, which is basically a replacement lid for your ashtray, this then houses twin digital gauges that have sensor probes, the working end has a metal screw in sensor (see the pics) so no risk of anything dropping off into the CC or any other part. PM me if you want more information.

Its the 2nd post down in the following link:
