Forza 3 Vs GT5

Post by matt_mr2t »

Lol, sounds like someones getting a little twitchy to me.

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/5864.html

I'm pretty sure comparisons are based on the full Forza 3 game Vs what people believe the full GT5 game will be like.

The big thing here of course is that we still dont know when (if?) GT5 will ever come out. That alone gives the first round to Forza.

May be a daft question, but is there any steering wheel controllers out there compatible with both consoles?

You'd think, as both have USB inputs some one could make a universal one.

A couple of the cheap ones are I think, but not sure which ones.

Going back to the comparisons, perhaps if Polyphony hadn't been constantly updating GT5P over the last year or so then people wouldn't be able to do a comparison. Also, GT4P played and looked just like the full version, so why would GT5 be any different? They're both great games, they just do the graphics slightly differently (Forza is more colourful, GT more realistic) and the AI is more adaptable in Forza (they'll avoid accidents, GT cars hold their line regardless). It's down to the individual as to what they prefer.

The licence tests also put a lot of people off the GT games, as unless you're very good you'll never be able to complete the game. Same can't be said of Forza.

I had GT3 (I think) for the PS2, failed on the tests a couple of times, got bored, never bothered to play it again tbh.

I did the same for GT4, only ever got my national A licence IIRC. Shame as I really enjoyed the game up to that point, but I just couldn't get any further which killed the game for me. Ironically, because of that Im firmly now in the Forza camp as at least I'll be able to finish that.

I never finished Forza 3 lol. It's such a big game I found I got bored of race after race before finishing it.

Just been playing the demo today. Probably the best thing on it is the choice to have manual with clutch, the less you use the clutch between changes the more damage you do to the gearbox :thumleft:

As for steering wheels have a look at the http://www.fanatec.de/

They have the clutch too :thumleft:

Waaay too expensive and dont say as far as I can see that they work on both consoles.

I dont even play racing games with manual, let alone think about a clutch

It's not actually that hard to get the licences. But it does require a bit of perseverence. I did mine then did Mark's for him too as he seriously CBA'd with the whole licence thing.

Do we know whether licences are going to be a central them to GT5? I guess they are likely to be as every previous one has had licence tests.

Licences are definitely included as a key part of GT5, yup.

Because I cant feel what the cars doing I just bounce off the rev limiter most of the time. I also forget what gear I'm in and get my fingers in a mess trying to fart ar$e between steering, accelerating, braking and then changing gear. You add a clutch to that and I think my hands will go into seizures.
As for in car views, it's too restrictive a view for me.

And thats another thing to confuse your fingers with!

If you do the outside view do you do it in front or from behind the vehicle?

It makes me dizzy doing it from infront. The road coming at you like wharp factor 9 thousand makes my eyes hurt.

But think about it, when you drive a car you use your hands for steering and gear changes. And thats it. You use your feet for breaking and clutch pedals and you use your eyes/neck to look around you.

Why do ALL of that with your hands in a game?

the ONLY extra thing you need your hands for are too look around, and with the incar view you have mirrors anyway so you can see whats around you with a quick glance to the top and left/right of the screen and for that you dont even need to move your head..

Well I see it that you're using your fingers for steering, accelerating, braking, changing up, changing down, clutch and if you want to look around, that too

I'm surprised you dont have spasms in your hands lol.
