Why ? Lambda sensor etc. are only there for emissions reasons

Not on modern cars and not on my 4E-FTE. Not sure on our older 4As, but I would find it odd if they put it in PURELY for emissions and not found other uses for it, DENSO would exploit having that sensor for other reasons... perhaps just minor tweaks, but sufficient a reason for me to want it.

I can feel an ECU swap happening lol. With a lambda sensor you can have better adaptation systems to compensate for wear and tolerance stack up in components such as injectors.

So far the evidance seems to point in the direction that the lambda sensor is only to mantain stoich. for cat operation... still I wonder, from my experience with the 4E-FTE, without the O2 sensor the engine had a tendancy to lean out too much and ping, or richen up too much and be less 'revving' from over fuelling.

September is here and my SC is taking more and more cranks to start, the colder it gets in the morning. I'll check the switch on Sunday, but could you give me instructions on how to 'link it out' ?

Cheers,
Gary.
