clutch slip!

Post by MR2_CL »

Right well i just got my new mr2 happy days \:D/

i know it's got an uprated clutch but the owner wasnt quite sure which one it was it was all done at rouge so it will either be

this:
http://www.roguesystems.co.uk/forms/Product.aspx?ID=485

or this:
http://www.roguesystems.co.uk/forms/Product.aspx?ID=473

when i lift of the clutch slightly which 800-1k revs it judders... now i expect that as it uprated and you need to give them alittle more when moving off.

but my main problem is that say i'm in traffic or going up a slight incline as it judders a bit there is an awful smell of burning clutch, even if i pull off my drive and it judders a bit becouse i havnt given it enough revs i can smell it slipping.

is that normal on a uprated clutch? it's still fairly new is it still bedding in?

doesnt slip at all when boost comes in or any other time strong as anything.

Mine judders at low revs. No idea what clutch I have, I just give it a few more revs (2k+ rpm).

not to bothered about the juddering more the burning clutch smell, is that normal?

took it for a spin and it doesnt have to much trouble when warm just when cold, which makes me think it's probably still bedding in?

Here's how I check for slip.... drive around to warm up the clutch normally.
Put the car on an incline and stationary. Engage 4th, rev to 4500 release clutch and put your right foot down. If your clutch is ok then the engine should die. If the revs increase once released the clutch, stop immediatly as it means the clutch is on its last legs.
