replacement sills - Escort?

Post by scrimmager »

Hi,

Having the sills done on my M1a and understand that Escort Mk3 sills can be used. Could anyone tell me the exact part please. Beever panels sell a few, is the the full 3door sill? cheers

Never heard of using Ford sills before.

Sills made specifically for the MK1 only cost around £35 per side.

Contact Steve Brooks on 07815287018 or email [email protected]

He does arch panels as well which are pretty good quality. I used them for my rear arch>sill return sections.

Mk3 3 door escort sills are a near perfect match and cost around £10 a side.

We discovered the Escort sill repair method back in 2001 and have repaired many Mk1's using them, the panels do need a little fettling but they are a very good starting point and even have a section on them for repairing the "triangle" section in front of the rear wheel arch. They only cost £15 too. :thumleft:

That's great thanks. Guess I'll go with the Escort sills. I've bought replacement MR2 parts in the past that needed fettling anyway, not from the ebay guy though admittedly.

Well the proper fitting panels will always need less fettling than the escort ones so it really just comes down to your skill level and cost. The escort method makes a perfect repair if done right.
