Mate managed to get the FW onto box number 2s drive.

I fixed the rrod.

Superb!

I have, today, given my colleague my old dead xbox. I said if he can fix it, he can have it. It never had the RROD, it just froze. Did you get the x-clamp kit thing? He's been looking at how to guides, is it easy to do?

its simple, take xbox completly apart remove the xclamps clean the cheaps and heatsinks to a mirror shine, put new thermal paste on chips bolt it down with the xclamp fix kit and tadaaaaa

As above Most of them come with a guide thats spot on.

Hardest thing is getting it apart if you don't have the right tools. Get em off ebay for like £10.

Also tricky to remove the x-clamps from the board.

most of the time its just the GPU one that needs doing.

I left my CPU alone on this one and its been fine

also, if you get the one with the screws you'll need to put some metal spacers inbetween the motherboard and the chassis as the bolts touch the chassis and make the board bend in the middle causing future problems.

Well the guy at worked fixed the Xbox with no problems. I said he could have it but he wouldnt take it and has just sent me a £20 play voucher - Batman hell yeah
