Well they are all like 20 years old plus so finding one with under 100k on the clock would probably be an achievement. Wouldnt necessarily worry massively about the mileage and look more at rust and wear in the usual places and how much recent service history it has.

There are a few about.
One was for sale recently for £10k with about 2,000 miles on it. I've seen a few for sale claiming to have around 50,000 miles.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it unless you wanted to spend a large amount of money on a car to win shows with (yawn).

I bought mine from it's original owner with 114,000 miles on it. It's been fantastic and since I've replaced the suspension feels no-where near its age.

Buy on condition, history and lack of rust. A car that's been used consistantly will give you far fewer troubles than a trailer queen or a "barn find" car IMO.

Mine has 27k miles and not a spot of rust.

I don't take it to shows, I just don't get much free-time to enjoy it :(

Not sure what it is worth, but it is really just a fantastic little car to enjoy when the time is right :thumleft:

Hypothetically (it's not for sale) what is it worth?

there is one with only 35 miles on the clock, spent all its life on display at a Sheffield Toyota dealers until sold on a couple of years ago
just how many/few such examples there may be would remain a mystery unless you could personally visit each owner of a car in the UK to get a look
I have heard stories of one guy who bought up to 3 of the last T bar models as an investment in '89 but this may just be a myth! who knows?

wow amazing car, funnily enough when i was getting my screen fitted i was chatting to the screen fitter and he was saying his mate has a Red mk1 mr2 which has only done 500 miles  so they are collectables to find but no one gets rid of them as they are so special

Mine has done just over 30k, had done 28.5 when I got hold of it for the sum of £950 last december. First time I've ever haggled the price up on a car! There is no rust anywhere but the paintwork is a bit scratched in random places as it has sat in someones garage for 7 years. Looks as if it has had half the contents of the garage stacked on top of it at some point. I am confident the mileage is genuine though, the previous owner (a quite old lady who had it from new) was banned for drink driving three times in a row, might also explain the light accident damage that has been repaired.

If you keep your eyes pealed you can always find something.

That's my car :)

I've had it about 2 years now, I bought it in November 07. The previous owner had it for 18 years from new!

I feel very privileged owning such a perfect example, it's completely as new in every way and needless to say it's cherished!

ugh... white

I am second owner (since July last year) of an excellent example 59.8K mile red late '87 Mk1 sunroof model fully documented with every MOT and service stamp, and after 1 year I just recently crossed over 61,000 miles

everything is original, including radio etc. The only thing I have changed is the Jimi bracket which, IMHO, should have been what the original design specified.

It is dry garaged and ONLY driven on dry weekend days except one or maybe two weekends a year when we go touring (its better treated than the MRs - according to her!)

can there be many of the 5000-odd remaining examples so well cared for?
Unless I'm very much mistaken...

Yup, mine.

As above, except I swapped the wheels and the stereo, keeping the originals in the garage in case I ever need to put it back to std.

I'm betting there are loads of garaged/pampered mk1's on IMOC.
