[Mk2] [Turbo] Mixture, failed mot

Hi, my 1992 rev2 turbo failed its mot and the mechanic adjusted the mixture screw on the AFM to get it to pass on the retest, when i took it back after repairing another fault it passed reading 0.3, but now untill the engine is hot its like driving with no power and the engine wont rev

Check the pins on the plug for the AFM, they corrode and cause the issue you describe.

the co was >2% and you adjusted it down to 0.3%?

your car needs a professional tuneup! and also try not to take too much advise from MOT testers as what's been advised has the potential to melt your engine if dont incorrectly!

tune it back, its hot with no power because the engine is too lean, melted pistons are a possibility ](*,)

Hi Many thanks for the replies. th screw on the AFM is it clockwise to increase the mixture?

thought i would try this bit by bit prior to taking it to a garage

drive the car in anger and it could end in tears.

Please book it in to a professional with the ability to measure the on-boost Air/Fuel ratio and check for detonation as soon as possible and try to avoid driving it wherever possible, if you drive very gently and try and stay off boost.

TBH it probably needed this before the MOT man advised you to start f**king about but its even more crucial now
