Turbo Advise Please

Post by Playbunny »

Hi all,

Need some advise on what I should do with my turbo #-o

Few weeks ago my car decided it no longer wanted to be a turbo and wanted to become an n/a so fireing its exhuast blades out the exhuast. Think this might had something to do with the owners right foot

Now what should I do.......
Car has a fully forged internals.

Do I.. Put another standard CT26 on her as I know it works, safe and wont open up a can of worms, tears, headaches and temper tantrums.

Spend a bit more and put a CT20/CT20B on her as I have been told this will bolt on and will be a good upgrade for the car if I can get one at good ££....

Or I do have a *cough* xs-power *cough* t04e turbo at work. Just looks like a headache to fit....it has extrnal waistgate, screamer pipe etc. Looks like I would need a new part to my exhuast, move the oil filer as downpipe will get in way, turbo only seems to be oil cooled and car has water and oil cooling facilities, then find out what fueling upgrades I would need.....Is it worth all the faffing.

I dont know a grate deal about turbos henc the need for your advise 8)

XS power turbos have a bit of a bad reputation mate, i'd steer clear.
CT20b is the way foward for you I.M.O :thumleft:
Put a boost controller on it and run it at 1 / 1.1 bar

Also you might want to have your engine checked out first, how do you know some bits of turbine blade have'nt made it into your engine?

I wouldn't do any of those options....if funds allow I would go for a tbd garrett turbo kit..gt28 would be an excellent replacement for the ct series turbo...
