i have noticed a slight knocking noise from my rev 3 turbo, got it up on a ramp and the machanic said it sounds like its coming from the sump area,is there any way in telling if it is the bottem end knocking?apart from that the car seems to drive fine, cheers for any help in advance
hear it from start up hot or cold, not when im on the move.standard engine as far as i no.also there seems to be alot of vibrations that come through the whole car when driving it.at first i thought it might be the exhaust touching the subframe but it wernt.any ideas?
well its only a possibility obviously but the big end bearings are one of the more common failures when it comes to bottom end noises
vibrations could be due to shot engne mounts/uprated mounts fitted
i have the uprated ones and it rattles like hell
if the big end bearings are gone what would be the best route to fix, new engine?or get this one rebuilt?is there any way of knowing for sure that the bearings are to fault?
you will be quite near rogue wont you if in coventry?
i would wip it down there and get them to have a gander
if its just the bearings much cheaper to get them replaced/crank reground as it can be done without removing the engine completely
Yeah best bet is it to get the engine rebuilt..
I went down the rotue of a second hand so called low milage engine back when I had my mk3 supra... big big waste of cash.. get the engine fixed up..
