Booked car in to local Toyota dealer....

Post by sw20GTS »

but I'm a bit nervous. I booked it in for a 100k full service.

I was quoted 200-350 as the price. So I told the lady to check the leaking windows/roof and dodgy suspension but she kept stressing about "paying more" for the labour.

What's so laborious about taking a glance at the seals and suspension while carrying out a routine full service? :P

i think what everyone is getting at here. is that youll be quite lucky if toyota DONT check everything and try to sell you extra parts. that you probs wont need.

Where are you located? There's bound to be an MR2 specialist nearby that could do this for you at a much better rate and with much better quality.

just out of interest, what exactly are you going to get for your £350???? New oil and filter, air filter (if standard), fuel filter????

Let us know what they find fault with, as in the above link, they will try to tell you that your car is a death trap and then give you a list of faults with brakes etc. , but please dont give them the go ahead to do any work on it......they are criminals....lol

I'll bet they will do a free safety check and find out that all 4 brakes are dangerous (incl the discs and pads). if you're lucky you will be able to leave and get nothing sorted elsewhere.

"Dangerous" brakes is a bet from me. If they don't get that I'm betting an emissions test is next.

Of all the cars I come across, a T dealership history would make me shy away from the car TBH. Sad but true.

oh yeah, i think that each Toyota centre charge different labour rates...i know Nottingham Toyota Inch-Cape was £90 a few years back.....and the real trick was telling me that both jobs that needed 'urgent' attention on my old rev3 n/a, the emissions & brakes (both of which turned out to be complete bull, by the way) needed further investigation and they wouldnt quote me a deffinate cost/price, although they kept teeling me it would be charged at £90 per hour.........
I might sound bitter/anti Toyota, but ive experienced it first hand...never agian tho...

If only for the cash saving take it elsewhere. Our T stealership charges £79/hr before vat and in my exxperience they seem somehow to know deonstrably the least about their own cars.

Another thing which will crop-up is they'll try a diagnostic, FOC decline that right from the start!!!

Well to be fair I never tried this branch before (Struans Dundee if anyone interested) and I really want the car sorted before winter.

I specifically asked and confirmed with the lady that they won't carry out any extra work and order any part without consulting me. She kept stressing that they will still charge labour for checking the fault.

I was a bit miffed to be honest. I booked the car in for a 100k full service and obviously I expect all checks to be included in the price. Apparently a simply check of the suspension is considered something "extra". I used to own a Prelude and booked myself into Nationwide (for full service + MoT) due to the fact I get discount as AA member. Very curteous service and no bull$h1t extras charged.

This time I think I would really have to bite the bullet. Hopefully things won't turn out to be a nightmate. Will report back after my ordeal. Wish me luck lads!

Well, I just went in to book the full service and asked some questions. They didn't mention any dodgy extras yet. Guess I will have to wait till the day I drop it off.

What's the point of a Toyota dealership ripping off their own Toyota owning customers? :(

Hehe no worries mate. Stealerships are well known for their outrageous pricing hence why I'm bit nervous.

I will really have to just bite the bullet and keep an open mind since this is the first time anyway that I deal with them. Really want to get the ride sorted after buying it since its ticking at 120k miles atm.
