Length of front droplinks

Post by hobbes »

How long should your front droplinks be?

I've just got a pair of replacement ones from twos-r-us after the aftermarket jobbies that came on the car mysteriously snapped.

The ones from twos-r-us are 10 inches between centers, but the ones that are on the car are 8 inches. Which is right?

The suspension appears to be bog standard (Bilstein - not lowered), so is it supposed to be 10 inches - and is that why the old ones broke? I don't want to fit the new ones until I'm sure they're right, but at the same time I'm not very happy driving round with my ARB held up with a cable tie.

Cheers.

Edit:-

Sorry - it's a MK 2 Rev 2 (to save you having to look it up)

Hi. As i said on the phone, standard length is 253mm between centres for all SW20 1990-1999.

I actually ordered one of each that are listed in the EPC from MrT when i first started making them, and still have them right here.

The 8" ones that were fitted sound suspiciously close to rear SW20 droplinks which are 208mm. That = 8.18".

I've sold over 300 front pairs with no complaints yet!

You will also see that twosrus.com in the US also only sell one front length and one rear length for all SW20 too.

Thanks for that :D Just thought it best to check as when I unpacked them the first thing I thought was 'they look the same as my back ones'. It wasn't me that phoned (didn't get home 'till after hours) which is why I posted the query up here as I was keen to get in about it. But then beer and TV got the better of me.

I didn't have time to check this morning, but I'm starting to think that the Japaneese muppet that had the car before me has put the fronts on the back and vice versa for some reason (probably stupidity).

Thanks again.

I agree, always best to check, and as you have found out, always best to approach previous owner's work with an open mind!

Enjoy your new droplinks and thanks for your purchase!
