V6 converted MR2 Turbo Tintop Revision 3.

Post by Enrico »

Sadly due to continuing problems with my health I have to sell my much loved '2. Although I have not been on IMOC much recently I am well known to the older members, they will vouch for the quality of the cars I have owned & respected over the years.

So, she is a 1995 rev 3 Tintop Turbo. I bought the car from another IMOC member with the idea of building a good smart daily driver that was capable of good times on the quarter mile drag strip.

Most of the work has been carried out by who I consider the best MR2 company out there, Rogue Systems.

18 months ago they fitted a V6 3 litre 3VZFE, stripped, rebuilt with new parts, with a little headwork as well as a modified flywheel. It was found to have a heavy duty Spec clutch with very little wear so that was left in. It was mated up to a Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, which gives it the most unbelievable sound!
It was also painted to show standard at the same time.

At the same time the ECU was changed to a Link, G3 I think, & was mapped by Lyndon. A Twisted Sanity nitrous oxide kit & controller was fitted also, for a little extra push on the dragstrip, but while this is plumbed in I have never used it on the road, & I haven't been well enough to race it as yet either. The engine has done less than 5,000 very easy miles since it was fitted in fact.

Other things fitted are uprated droplinks, braided hoses, uprated anti roll bars, quick shift kit with TRD gearnob, air filter, new battery & recent tyres.

The car also has a full GReddy bodykit (replica by Russ, well known on here).
Sparco bucket seats are fitted, very comfortable when in, but that is very hard for me now in my condition!
Wheels are Work Equip staggered alloys, I will check the sizes & add to this advert.

I have changed the rear lights to Rev 2 spec, as I prefer the more aggressive look, & fitted an Autopista rear spoiler.

There are a couple of bad points, there are a couple of shopping trolley dings, very small, & the wheels are in desperate need of a refurb.

I have spent a LOT of money on this car, & would like it to go to a good home. It drives fantastic, the power delivery is superb due to loads of low down torque, & sounds like nothing else I have ever heard.

I am looking for around £5,250 for the car, but I really have no idea of the market at the moment, I am basing this on the work done & the money spent. If this is unrealistic then I am willing to listen to offers.

Suprised there is not a little more interest in my car. As I said I am willing to listen to offers. The car has covered less than 4k miles since the engine conversion, which is like new! The conversion alone cost me £3.5k.
I need to sell as because of my condition I can bearly get in & out of her

Right,
Considering your circumstances I am a bit embaressed to do so, but even though I just bought a MR2 Turbo with forged engine, at least I will start the bidding at 3K  :?

No offence intended mate,
My very low offer was just meant to possibly make people start bidding as nothing was happening :? .
It was meant as statement that even though I already own several cars and just bought another one to add, so I am not looking for another one at all, I am still prepared to make a bid as your car seems too nice not to bid on.

I thought these were "for sale" threads not an ebay auction style !!

Nice car tho, you'll just have to wait for the right owner to come along.

Unfortunately, V6 conversions don't command a high price, but looks a sorted "2", so i am sure your'll get good money for it, it'll just take a while.
We ALL make mistakes !!! :)

3k is a decent price considering how much this one went for on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEDWX:IT

it sold for just over 2k eventually

The price of MR2's is dropping sadly. I only got £2,300 for mine in the end although it owed me close to £9k over the time I owned it.

You are right, sadly they are dropping, but my cars have always been a cut above the rest, as older members on here know.

I sold my car today for pretty much the asking price :D
