Turbo Auto

Post by NJT »

Hello just signed up to the site as im very interested in getting an mr2 turbo. basicaly im after some advice, ive seen advertised an mr2 turbo auto as far as im aware they never made a turbo auto is this right? its a mk2 rev 1, "g" reg, spoke to the bloke on the phone and he confirmed it is a turbo and it is an automatic. is this most likely a conversion or did they actualy make a turbo version with an auto box. im not desperate for an auto but for the money and its local thought it could be worth a look but im now confused. any help is much appreciated thanks alot.

I have neither heard of an auto-turbo!

Thought the auto was only on the UK and Jap NA. Never heard of a Turbo auto. Sounds like a conversion, but thought the Auto box would not be up to coping with the turbo engine!

well thanks for the replies. anyway i wnet to see the car turned out to be a uk car 2.0 na auto with a turbo badge  . plus when he stuffed it on a roundabout and we went spinning out of control through road and grass it was definatley time to walk away. lol. so the quest for a turbo continues 3rd mr2 ive viewed this weekend 5th all together since i started looking and there was only 1 that was any cop but he decided to drop me in it after arranging to swap for my impreza then claiming he couldnt get insured at 40 odd year old. the rest have been dogs starting to get fed up now. anyway cheers again. and il continue to look.

it hasnt so much been my budget its been whats in the area im sick of travelling the world for cars. looking last night i found a local toyota garage had just taken back as p/x a rev 1 n/a they sold 11 years ago, fsh 12 months mot 6 months tax low mileage for year in realy good condition. idealy i wanted a turbo but i fell in love with it even down to the colour so i bought it :D . probably the more sensible option though as i do 100 plus miles a day. anyway i got there in the end il put some pics up when i collect it and a progress thread once i start moding it.

cheers for replies

So looks like you might be seeing a bit more of me.
