I've bought a rev3 head this week, just looking for an inlet manifold now. Going to get everything ready and do it over the winter whilst the car is sorn'd. Also looking for an alternative chargecooler to the ST205 as evrything I've read seems to point to that being near its limits now. I want to try this engine on the 1/4mile as it is, then at least I'll be able to make a comparison before and after the work.

How come your swapping the head chap?

hes runing rev2 head and inlet manifold and his dyno result pretty much showed the head was restricting it from power, it made great figures none the less but any excuse to pull her apart lol

Think thats the reason  :thumleft:

They couldn't get anymore power out of it, and their results seemed to point to the early spec head and inlet restricting the car, either that or the ST205 anyway. I've already modified the inlet manifold to accomodate a rev3 throttle body so can't do anymore to that. I've got the rev3 head now anyway so its worth a try. I'm also looking at different chargecooler cores as I can't go boot mount intercooler as my sons pushchair goes in there.

It'll give me something to do when the car's off the road for the winter :D

I'd definately say the st205CC was the problem rather than the head mate.

Im running a 1989 rev1 head, with 1mm O/S valves in and 272's, no porting etc. Not had any problems yet, and dont think im getting close to its limits either..yet.

Good to see its up and running again though :thumleft:

I agree that the stock Rev2 head is in no way a restriction, even with stock valves. :thumleft:
