HighwayStar wrote:If I could get a bonnet to you mate would you be interested in doing one for me with an appropriate fist of cash? My bodyshop reckon £400 which is about the same as a genuine border I think... I'd still have to get it sprayed though and I have to budget for the relocation kit (or fabrication).
Could it be a new sideline for you?

R.

i got quoted the same hence why i did mine myself, mine is just an n/a not worth spending that much money on a genuine border bonnet, then again ive spent a small fortune on this car anyway so might not have made much difference to be honest.

i feel touched that you think ive done such a good job on mine and would like me to do one for you, but sadly im no bodyshop worker and only really do things for myself to be honest,
must say it did cross my mind getting a couple of scoops and bonnets but seems like a fair bit of work for very little gain time you make them and of course if you have buyers for them and then shipping them off,

it really isnt that hard to be honest to do im no genius just self taught and when you think how much you save bonnet can be made for less than a £100 time you get it painted £250 the saving is superb you might even get away without the welding i did down the middle of bonnet, i didnt want to tak a chance though, jigsaw with decent metal blade an angle grinder and your away matey blending in the scoop i found the hardest getting the shape that matched the curves of scoop. :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:
she's all comming together nicely now after a fair bit of cash spent, not bad for just an n/a now for some body kit i think.

That's nowhere near as nice as the one you've just done mate. Yours dips away from the bonnet line whereas that has raised parts to create the two 'sunken channels'. Don't like the two extra vents either. Not even sure they're actually vents are they? If they are where does the rainwater go?

sorry i dont im afraid thay sold other body kits and stuff will see if can find sellers name.

trev as for relocation of radiator ive not had chance ive been working on my house which is long time overdue, but im sure in the new year i will pick up on it again.

poor 2 is looking a bit of a state at the moment my roof has the dreaded laquer peel which spreads like wild flower, i repaired a large section with aerosol can for now but its going to cost me £250 to have roof painted, you get a tiny bubble then next day its the size of a 50 pence peice. :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:
