MK1b Radio Wiring diagram (wire colours - head unit)

Hi

Just about to fit a new head unit, but as the previous owner had the original Toyota head unit and a cd head unit both wired in together, all the original plugs have been cut off and I don’t want to trace all the wires thru the relays that have been fitted!!!!

Does anyone have the wiring colours for these so I can just cut everything out and start again????

As there have been no replies I thought I would post an update to benefit anyone doing searches in the future.

Here are the wiring colours of an mk1b radio system.

NOTE – I did not trace all these wires back myself, I just used the coding from the cable adaptor I had from my MK2, therefore I accept no responsibility if these are wrong (but my radio is working fine)

Front left +ve : Pink, Red dash
Front left –ve : Purple

Front right +ve : Light Green, Red dash
Front right –ve : Blue

Rear left +ve : Black, Red dash
Rear left –ve : Yellow, Red dash

Rear right +ve : Red, Blue dash
Rear right –ve :White, Red dash

Constant supply : Blue, Yellow stripe, Red dash

Switched supply : Grey, Red dash

Earth : (Sorry, forgot to record this one)

Lights : Dark green

Ariel : (2 wires on car both connected to same radio wire)
a) Black, Red stripe, Red dash
b) Pink, Blue stripe, Red dash

If you still have the original Toyota plugs fitted (and not some weird and wacky set up using 2 relays like I did on mine), then just buy a adaptor cable (halfords), it will make life a lot easier and quicker, also helps if you ever have to change back.

Cheers, just looked at what you sent and our colours matched up, phew, I wired my radio up correctly.

As I'm sure this is the same for the MK2 you should get your diagram uploaded to the knowledge base as I think others will find it useful.

Is the wiring diag the same for my radio/cassette Toyota PLL syntyesised LW/MW/UKW Receiver 5199 ? My car is a mk1 1985. I can't see any rear speakers, do I have them or were they an option?
Plugs have been cut off. I have plugs for the radio/cassette. But colour of wires does not seem to match. Haynes manual states +ve is Light Blue. But this wire on the cut off plug when fitted to radio seems to be connected to the metal case (0.5 ohms). Case is ususlly earth. Expect fuse will blow if I connect +ve to the Light Blue wire.
I assume the diag of the 4-way and 10-way plugs/sockets is looking at the back of the radio/cassette.
Is my radio from a 1985 car? Thanx

I'm not sure about the Mk1a wiring, but I'll check. Rear speakers were only fitted to the MK1b, 1a had a sub under the drivers seat.
