It is all about going to the right MOT tester, some will be stricter than others.. I've never had any problems with this sort of thing. Thousands of cars have their cats removed and still pass their MOT.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Well Dave, I guess I'm cursed too. Started up my car this morning, lo and behold I was met with the battery light, the cat over temp light and the intercooler fan light.

My alternators goosed itself again

Not sure what to do now, I have a spare here that I could get refurbed, or I could bend over and get shafted to the tune of £424 for a brand new one from Mr T.

Long and short of it,
i had this prob last time,
basically did the test on all 3 pins and found the black and yellow wire wasnt giving a feed,
so few months ago i ran a new feed, still didnt solve the prob ](*,)
The found out after all that it was the fuse ](*,)

Anyhow, the second time it happened, it was the alternator for sure, so stuart lent me his (cheers mate) and whilst i was under there i decided that because the wire didnt in effect need to be there anymore i pulled it out.

Started the car fine adn was great \:D/ , then on to this ocasion ](*,)
Tested all 3 wires again and guess what, black and yellow wire was only recieving 5 volts, checked the fuse was ok this time though along with other usual checks and yep everything was fine.

So the final stretch was basically i had to re-run a new cable (bearing in mind this was the second time ](*,) )

So moral of the story is, if it aint broken, dont fiddle with it
