i turned on the stereo and it played a bit, but then died. because its a home install, i thought a wire was just loose, because it kept flickering on and off. we started down the road and everything seemed fine. when i turned on my blinkers, i noticed that my tachometer started to jump with each click of the blinker. thats when i started to check the dash, no idiot lights came on, but the battery was showing a few dashes into the dashed lines, out of the solid. i slowed down to do a u-turn and thats when the car died. i tried restarting, but nothing happened. now it sits on the side of the road down the street. a little background.
my wife says she started the car just fine yesterday. the engine was recently out for a clutch change. the speedometer hasnt worked since the engine was put back in, is this related to the alternator? the hazards indicated inside the car, but not outside. the alternator belt wasnt broken. the windows still roll up, but slowly.is there anything i need to check? is there a sure diagnosis for this? if so, does anyone have the parts i am going to need? thanks for the help.
