MR2 Mk2 Rev3 (95M) GT T-Bar Turbo - black - 300bhp - £3800ono

Post by timecorp1 »

I'm selling my MR2 in order to buy a Triumph Street Triple motorbike - just passed my test :-) and can't put up with sitting in traffic any longer!

Here's the details:

MR2 Mk2 Rev3 (95M) GT T-Bar Turbo - black - 300bhp approx.
(black leather/suede interior and elec folding mirrors)

MOT'd and taxed til april 2010.
130,000 miles (although actual estimated mileage about 90k when conversion from kilometres taken into account)

I've owned her for nearly two years and in that time have spent well over £4000 on her - with all bills.
This includes recent cambelt from Rogue Motorsport inc. idler bearings.
Most work done by Rogue.

Mods include:

Aftermarket intercooler
HKS mushroom filter
Blitz dump valve
Twin exit stainless steel de-cat exhaust
Tein fully adjustable coilover suspension kit
Poly bush kit
Team Dynamics 17inch staggered alloys - the rear tyres are amazingly wide! Plus spare unused front alloy without tyre.
AVC-R Boost Controller - mounted in centre console
Double DIN JVC stereo with USB port
Subwoofer behind each seat

Did a 13.3sec quarter mile at Santa Pod last year!

I work in Dudley and live in Birmingham, West Midlands.

If you are interested call me on 07866 607170 - Chris

I'm looking for £3800 but am open to sensible offers. This is what I paid for the car and that was without the alloys and suspension kit etc which were very expensive. Had to look at quite a few to find one this good.

Can you give any more info before we call?

What make is the exhaust?
Would you consider selling it with the standard wheels (if you have them)?

This is a silly question...but....how has the car been driven....within an inch of it's life everytime you drive it? Carefully?

Thanks

Yes I have the standard wheels which are included in the sale.
They have tyres but with very little tread (I waited until they needed replacing and then bought the 17s)

Lol, good question!

I didn't buy a 300bhp turbo car to change gear at 2000rpm and cruise around trying to squeeze maximum economy out of it!
But at the same time it is my pride and joy, I ALWAYS warm it up for at least ten minutes without running it on boost before putting my foot down, I ALWAYS let the turbo cool down sufficiently before switching it off, and since September last year I haven't done a single short journey in it as I have been commuting on a 125cc motorbike (95mpg so a lot better for getting to work in traffic!).

Also as there is so much power available it is very rare you need to use anywhere near maximum revs - I had two MK1s before this and you really needed to thrash them to get them to move - but with a car like this you can cover a lot of ground very quickly and effortlessly.

I haven't taken the car on any track days, but I have done one session at Santa Pod of 6 runs.

Also, as you will see from my service history folder, no expense has been spared and oil has been changed probably more frequently than necessary.

Cheers,
Chris

Will send a PM later today or in the morning.

Many thanks for the info. :thumleft:

Ok ppl haven't had a lot of interest in this!

When I've sold my two previous mk1 MR2s they have sold for pretty much bang on the asking price within a couple of days!

How come I have no interest on this? Is the price too high or is it just the fact that nobody wants a 20mpg car in the current financial climate?!

Current economic climate means that you can pick up decent rev3s for sub 3k thats even in summer when the demand is higher for T-bars. Its a buyers market so even if advertised for 3k expect to be knocked down.

Also Despite the 13.3q/mile you havent provided any evidence for your claim of 300hp nor stated whether it is at the fly or at the wheels.

Further to this your images do not show much detail regarding the car and is condition. a car that looks spot on from 20+foot away as taken in your pics can look completely different when less than 10 foot.

This is not meant as a dig but as constructive criticism :thumleft:

Your car does look quite nice but as mentioned, you need more pics.
Inside the car pics, close ups etc.

I just bought me a lovely rev 3 tubby with 100k miles and full service history with full BIMTA details for £2995.....not that yours needs to be that cheap but just to highlight the fact that my budget of £3.5k was fine and that I have a little money left over.

Good luck with your sale.
Im sure whoever buys it will be very happy. :thumleft:

yeah but what did it have done to it for 3k. worth the extra for good mods if you go and have avcr, tein coilovers, exaust fitted these alone could cost an extra 2k+

yeah i was definitely being lazy with the photos!

That said, I find that even a car with 20 really good close ups can still be crap when you see it in the flesh! I normally ignore photos and just go and have a good view.

I'm going on holiday for a week or so tomorrow but when I get back I'll post a load of photos and give it one last attempt.

Don't think I'd want to sell it for less than £3500 really with what I've spent on it - might just put it away in the garage til next year!

I thought it would fetch a premium being a GT rather than the more common GTS or doesn't that make a difference these days?
