sub woofer fitting in a Mk1b

Post by BennyTheW »

Hi....

I have managed to get hold of a mk1a sub and i am
hoping to fit it to my Mk1b...

I have read somewhere that the wiring should still be there... is this true?

I'm a bit cautious about ripping up the carpets only to find its not...

I have found the wiring diagram for the sub pins but
if someone could talk me through where abouts i will find the plug
and how/where best to lift the carpet without trashing it i would
be muchos grateful...

Thanks one and all...

Ben...

You realise that the Mk1a sub will make a farting noise and nothing more?! It's not exactly new technology! If you are fitting this to improve your stereo system you would be better off poking yourself in the eye.

I have one of these (not fitted)

May be a better option for you.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

YEp its there Take out the drivers seat 4 bolts

then you will find the flap in the carpet for the Sub wiring by the rasied bar running from the door to the center tank tunnel.

Lift the side strips From the door bottom couple of cross head screws and then feel under neath you should find the connector taped to the loom on the floor just behind the bar on the left hand side of itpoke the connector through th carpet and connect it up and enjoy.

As olli has said it will sound abit poo but its genuine .

The SWD-1600 is nice if you want that extra bit of bass, fits nicely behind the drivers seat aswell. Its been discontinued now though and replaced with the SWE-1000 which is larger and wont fit behind the seat if you have long legs. I swapped my SWD-1600 for the SWE-1000 which currently sits in the passenger footwell and performs really well for its size.
