When getting some tyres at RSR last week, the bloke quoted me £50, but then asked if I wanted the fronts doing, or all 4?

It didn't fill me with confidence, and he said it was a pita job to do.

So I went back to merityre, who did my car a few years ago. Their cost was £75. You can print a voucher for a "free" check though, so if it doesn't need adjustment you don't pay.

They have computerised kit, and were treating other customer's cars (Esprit and an M3) with care.

The car handles and drives so much better now - I keep telling myself to get it checked at least every year, as I forget what a difference it makes.

I paid £140 - That was full alignment, not "tracking" which is just a case of making sure the wheels are pointing in the same direction.

I have paid less in the past for 4 wheel alignment but the mesurements have never matched, on my last alignment they were exact acorss both sides.

I had camber, castor and toe set to my specs - and the back axle alignment check to confirm the thrust axis (it was spot on - not bad considering I did it myself with a ratchet strap, tape measure and a gate post!)

The difference in handling and grip compared to how it was is insane!

Had mine done at a local well known tyre place paid £40 for tracking and could feel no difference at all.

Went to Wheels In Motion in Chesham, paid £85 (IIRC) for full geo, and the difference was amazing, the best money I have spent on this car :thumleft:

Sounds like you're local to me mate with the mention of RSR and Merityre.

Did you go to the Southfields or Leatherhead Merityre?

Went to Merityre in Southfields and was quoted £65 but their sensors couldn't see my car, (apparently was too low) #-o

Then spent the rest of the day looking for somewhere who could supply me with Eagle F1's - Kwik Fit said the GSD3's were discontinued and other well knowns had to order them in. Good job as I'm ordering them on the net and saving £25!!

I love the rubbish some garages come out with!!

The laser sensors that these guys use will fit on any car. Ride height has sweet F.A to do with it...

As for GSD3s being discontinued....I just bought some from a non-specialist tyre fitter in Bordon, Hampshire and I know that Micheldever Tyres can get them easy as too.....

they were about £110 per tyre for 225/45/17

Good place to start would be ETB if you have a local garage, I work for a Renault dealer and use them all the time.
Had my mr2 checked after some major suspension work on there setup for free, its all computerised and they will give you printouts before and after.
They let me in to have a look when they set it up and then gave me the price based on what needed adjusting, mine only needed the toe doing so I had front and back toe done and 4 wheels balanced for £50

I used APS in Brackley www.autops.co.uk for my mk1. They use the Beissbath alignment gear which is what many OEM's use. Some of the cheaper allignment systems use the tyres as datum points but the more pro kit uses the wheel rim and has a a system to cancel out any buckled wheels or rotary offset. Mine was £80 all in but make sure ALL of your links are freed off in advance otherwise you'll be paying for them to do that work as well.

I agree, i went to 2 places to get mine done and the car wasn't correct. So i went to WheelsInMotion, Job done in 45 mins! Transformed the car. No point going anywhere else.

Sorry, I only come on here sporadically.

It was Bordon Tyre and Exhaust. They are in the estate opposite Tesco and Shell. Barry is the guy I talk to and he's very helpful.
