Before I pull mine out and have a look, can anyone tell me if the green illumination is done by silicon bulb covers, thereby making changing it to red just a matter of changing the cover on the bulb/bulbs please..

There was a thing about this last year - I believe its a case of removing the coloured plastic cover on the front of the clock and replacing it with the coloured plastic of your choice. You would have to find the article useing the search facilaty to be 100 % sure on this though.

loads of us were doing it a while ago and the coloured perspex was doing the rounds red and blue, got mine off ebay £1.30 for a sheet of blue, very easy to do i wouldnt glue it though housing holds perspex tight if you cut it right just in case you want to change back.

Whats the best thing to cut it with? craft knife?

i used the mrs bread knife well i say bread knife its one of those jml knives that cut through anything, you can see it on the dash if you look close you know the one that cuts through coke cans must have seen the advert on the telly, junior hack does the job aswell gives fairly smooth cuts didnt take long at all and clock is so much brighter at night now, only thing is you get hooked i then changed my heater led's to blue to match.

Thanks, hooked already lol, Did the cream dials with amber illumination, bought red bulb covers for the heater control, now the red acrylic for the clock, I am now trying to sort how best to change the illumination on the the two small fog light switches. I am thinking here of using the red acrylic to replace two small squares on the these.

loads of posts on here ref switches and changing the colour of the led's im not that great with electronics but managed to change my heater control led's to blue looks miles better now, was lucky though i had a spare heater control to play with given by trev aka blz8027 but quite easy really,
switches look more complex though i was going to do window switches but mines broke as it is so didnt fancy doing it in case i finished it off and couldnt control windows.

I bought a second heater control and fog switchs from Larry93 on here with the intention of doing the mods to those then changing them over, but the heater contol is not as good as mine, has a few flaws in the plastic, so I'm going to just use mine.

The illumination on the fogs is a white bulb, the green is the front of the switch, which is green plastic with silver paint over it, then the fog light icon etched in. So I'm thinking of trying to cut out the square where the icon is and put a red square in, paint it silver and put another icon in...somehow lol.

Just got the acrylic sheet this morning, I don't think it's the right stuff, 3mm thick and it's deep red, not opaque, you can't see through it, not like the stuff in the instructions here.

Going to have to look for some thinner see through stuff, or has anyone got any left over? Red

Nofearmadbiker, that job you've done with the blue looks perfect, was that the 3mm thick perspex you used? it looks a bit thick to me the stuff i got, the original looks to be only about 2mm if that.

same as, i got the deep blue in 3mm and u cant shine a torch through it.
Also, my clock lights are a bright green without the filter. is this normal?

Afraid I cant help with that Ken, I have a mk1.

I'm sure they'll be along to answer your question soon.

The stuff on the clock face is only about 1.5mm thick.

That's what I thought it looked like 1.5mm,, I emailed trent plastics who I bought the sheet from and they don't do less thickness than the 3mm.

The blue pictured above looks great, and they've all been on about using this stuff for£1.30 from Ebay, which as far as I can tell must be 3mm.
I would just like some confirmation of this, and how it fits.

yes mate what i used at the time everybody was buying from same guy i think but mine defo 3mm.

you have taken the original cover off i take it and not just over the top as light is bright white when cover is off.
