Rattling T-Bar

Post by GHOST »

Just doing a few jobs on the car (the kind you always mean to get around to but never do!), and wondering if anyone else has had the locking mechanisms in the T-Bar glass rattle? I'm guessing its the metal poles that slide through and engage into the roof but I'm no expert. I'm also guessing its an easy fix so any ideas?

Wouldn't normally bother (I can put up with a slight rattle on rough roads) but I'm thinking of selling her and it doesn't sound good to a prospective buyer.

i have the same problem on my passenger tbar. Dunno how to solve it apart from turning the stereo up. I though the bass had rattled something loose, but obviously not.
Sorry I cant help but am interested in the answer

Center holding bar - is that in the housing attached to the Tbar glass itself?

Does it just need taken apart?

I had this problem on my mk2 a while ago. It bugged the hell out of me. Eventually i took apart the tbar roof and found the spring in side was the cause of the noise. I bought some sprayable grease and coated all moving part with this and it fixed the problem.

Cheers BLZ, but I think Pete's answer serves the problem best here as its the sides that are rattling, from inside the locking housing.

Thanks to you both for your time though, I'll have a look at them tomorrow.
