[Mk2] [Turbo] Piston TDC?

Post by Jeezymister2 »

When the notch on the crankshaft is pointed up like in the picture, does that notify that the pistons are at Top Dead Center?

In this current state, Pistons 1 and 4 are up and 2 and 3 are down.

Thank you all,

Joey.

If you want a more closer reading you can simply hold the plastic cover on and place the outer crank pull on so you can line up the timing mark at 0 degrees then remove the wheel and cover to install the belt.

The 0 degrees is never a perfectly true TDC if your relating this to timing up cams with adjustable gears, youll need to install the belt etc and use a degree wheel and a piston stop in bore 1 to locate the precise TDC, if its just for standard mechanical timing to install the belt youll be fine.
