Exhaust options for the mK1

My exhaust is in need of replacement as its rusty,im really on a tight budget so need to source something soon as possible.

Currently i have a standard mild steel toyota exhaust on it,its corroded on the join to the small box before the backbox,im not sure what this box does,possibly a cat?

just curious will a mk2 exhaust fit?

No CATs on mk1s

There are plenty of exhausts cropping up on eBay at the moment.

I have one I am looking to get rid of...Its a mongoose stainless steel system.

Think you may have a problem with it, as my mate has with his. He has an SC conversion and found that the gearbox gets in the way. I think you may have to get an exhaust specifically for the SC unless someone else can shed any light on this?

Both my SCs ( one import, one conversion ) have exhausts originally meant for NA cars, and they both fit without a problem ( one magnex, one Mongoose )

Lotus Elise S2 exhaust:



You need and Elise backbox, a standard MK1 downpipe and flexi, and a mid-section welded in. I bought all the parts for mine and had it welded together and fitted for less than £200 - and that included the labour

I paid £150 for an as-new but second hand Magnex and I'm very happy with it. Great sound and looks - It's actually quieter but much better sounding than my leaky rusty mild steel exhaust. Love it.

I recently sold a Magnex on eBay for £125. Have a look on there - it would be my first port of call if I was on a budget.
