Paint code 187-202? (Dark Gray Metallic)

Post by pacman160778 »

Has anyone got a car in this paint code, or at least a picture of one so i can see what its like as i don't think i've seen it before.

Its a rather dark grey, not the lighter silvery grey/blue that you see on MR2s :-k

And from the paint code listed, it seems to be a mix of "202 Black" and "187 Bluish Grey Argentu"?

187 is steel mist grey, didn't know there was a Toyota colour which is a mix of the two.

I've not long had a respray in 187 which I would consider a darkish grey, pictures in my garage.

yep thats the colour i know its definitely not :)

Is the official name for it Steel Mist Grey though? As according to the EPC, 187 is "Bluish Gray Argentu". Perhaps they are named different between UK, USDM and JDM? :-k

Reason i'm asking this anyway is that i have some new toblerones (colour coded) and the part number is 81730-17040-B1, and if you look at the link to this EPC page it seems to show thats actually a combination of 187 and 202?

the way that reads is that that is the two different coloured cars 187 & 202 that that particular colour side moulding would be on mate & not a mixture of the two colours

ah i think you may be right there :)

looking at the other part numbers on that page, it has one that is maroon metallic, but the colour code is 3E5 Super Red, so that must be for a red car that has the dark red side mouldings, i'm sure i've seen those before :-k Similarly it lists light silver metallic strips with 040 Super White, and i've definitely seen that on MR2s before :)

although on the subject of red, there is no strip listed for 3J6 Red, so they must all be fitted with the black (unpainted) ones? :-k

I can't say that i've ever seen a black car with these dark metallic grey strips though :-k

I thought the blue interiors only came on blue and white cars? :-k

Would be interesting to see a black car with blue interior and these side strips :)

Reason i was asking about this colour as my car will be getting a respray in a different colour once i get the kit fitted and i thought this dark grey would be a nice choice. But don't think i could have a non-standard paint code for the entire bodywork [-X Looks like its back to my original choice, white #-o

The dark grey is just the normal colour that Rev2 steel mist grey cars had their side strips painted in. As far as I know the colour was never used for the whole car. If you search in the garage for Rev2 SMG cars you will see what I mean, also the years listed in your EPC link confirm this.

if you wanted the car the same colour as the side mouldings ,then take one to the body shop that will be doing it & they will be able to match with there colour cards they have

Most of the black cars ive seen (before rev 3 ) have the Grey trim ,

As you say does anyone know the actual colour ?
Also does anyone know the actual colour of the inserts ,on standard rev 4 alloys?
