it can be done apparently, your supposed to link the laptop to the ps3 with an ethernet cable then the PS3 will be able to get online through the laptop using the mobile broadband dongle / usb stick.
i've tried it and cant get it to connect, has anyone done this? can anyone give a step by step guide?
any help very much appreciated
Should be a case of starting Internet Connection Sharing on the laptop, but I've never done it so can't really help much more than that.
If you haven't got unlimited access on the dongle though, then I wouldn't bother as it'll rape your monthly limit.
not sure how you'd do it the way you've said but you can get a router which you can plug the dongle into to share the internet using wi-fi, so your laptop and ps3 would both connect wirelessly to the router.
youd have to use internet connection sharing as ekona says but i dont think id try it for playing online.
Unless you actually get a stable connection of atleast 300kbps down and most importantly 300kbps upload....
i think you confused the situation in the first place by using the word proxy.
ICS is the only thing you need to do.
tick a box in network connections, use a crossover cable and that should be about it.
proxys are mainly used to hide your IP.
