Well where do i start
went over to my mates on wednesday and when i got out
plums of smoke coming from engine bay.

.

.

looks like the dizzy seal has gone completely
must be where its sat as worked out since 96 its only does 20K miles
anyways nursed it back home and phoned jinxy,
decided i would stop driving it untill sorted

(did not want a repeat of jo's sc)
and with what seemed to be a major coolant leak did not wanna risk head gasket
and after a long chat with jinx decided that the dizzy seal had gone and the cam cover gaskets as well
so ordered part for jinx and cam gaskets from ebay and waited

phoned up the garage said i wanted some bits done they said to fit dizzy seal 20smackers

so the part arrived today

(cheers again jinxy) and took it up the garage

i asked them how busy they were cos i want a couple other bits done.

.

in the end i got this lot done for 80 quid

remove cam covers and shot blast them and spray them

(willl do writting on covers later)
replace cam cover gaskets
change spark plugs
change leads
changed dizzy oil seal
change dizzy rota and leads
all timed up nicely
get rid of all oil sat above where sparks were
bleed brakes out and change brake fluid
refit everything on
full check under car

theni mentioned about the water leak too, so put on a pressure tester on the coolant and all we could hear was water spraying across the garage
it was the 2 jubille clips for the heater matrix where they go from the soft pipes to the hard pipes into the matrix under the car, changed them.

.

sorted
so after this ended up changin the coolant as well

(not a bad thing)
that was the major water leak sorted too

took it for a drive afterwards.

.

.

.

.

.

what a difference

before murray had felt a bit lopey bit slow bit unhappy with himself
now vroom off we go so much more lively, the brakes now work.

i can actually make the rear wheels spin

, would not before

(only in testing of course not wanna ruin him)
sounds so much smoother all timed in nicely

now to the bad bits.

.

stuff still needs to be done

got underneath and the front needs some serious TLC he has some cancer
on the drivers side behind the wheel arch on the floor pan

(not the seals) is a lot of filler
and push and lots of water comes out so dug a bit with a screwdriver to get the water out so it did not sit up there
and screw driver goes straight through so i really need to make a weld a new plate up there and get rid of the fill asap
also the front cross member is okay but could do with replacing

still need ot change clutch slave cylinder

and will bleed last of air out coolant 2morrow

then just as finishing i got a call from my bro in law asking for a lift to brighton
about 110 miles away, wants to go pick up his new car
so off me and murray go and he was prefect and he drove like a dream with all his new parts and it was belting it down with rain

(did not leave till 8pm) and gale force winds
he did not batter a eye lid, good as gold
well pleased
just a few bits to sort now but gettign there
will get pics up 2morrow as just got back from brighton
but got a few pics of it in pieces

the water leak

a touch of filler

oops

and teh cam covers which i am pleased with

new engine day pics

that was last week this is today

another very very long day
well start off this morning at about 9 ish
and finished this evening about 7.30 ish is the cold and dark
but hey thats all part of the fun.

.

.

.

.

.

I had a list of jobs i wanted to do

first job on the list was fix the boot popper

(the one next to drivers seat)
this was so i could stop using the key on the boot and swap to my sc lights

(which i don't have a key for)
so i thought first would be to check the pull switch

and when i pulled up a bit of the carpet i found that the cable was not actually connected.

so easiest way was to pull up the carpet and undo the front 2 bolts on the seat to lift it a bit and unbolt the pull thing and reconnect it all

put it all back together and bobs ya uncle it worked lovely

but a few shockers whilst doing this
i found a ruddy great bit whole which i will need to sort

and i also found an underseat sub, i forgot A's have these and it works lovely

i wondered why the stereo did still sound good,, but i had an annoying bang from under my seat i have never worked out what it is

i found out that it was the rear mount on the sub was not bolted at the back, one bolt and all sorted no longer bangs
next i found a 2 pound

(thanks mike

)

next job to tackle was the inner arch linings of the front and get rid of the leaves that sit behind and change the side indicators
first of wheels off

then pull out the liner

( i have notice that the passenger side skirt has a crack in it so need a new one at some point if anyone has one or knows of any)
any way was greated by this

pulled out all the leaves and left with a nice pile
also found there is no bottom of my wing on the passenger side

so attacked it with waxoil after cleaning it all out but need to back to change the wing later in the year and do a better job but did all round the bottom of the post as well
after first coat, also looked at where the door switch is pulled off the rubber and ut some waxoil behind there where it cannot be seen

also changed the side indicators whilst i was at it
Then i thought whilst its in the air i might as well put on the wheels from ben so i can refurb mine, i was gonna paint them black but could not find any paint, but will get some from work so i can paint them before tiny borrows them
but before i can put my wheels back on i need some standard wheels bolts if anyone knows of any

:wtf:

so here it is with new wheels

( for now) and new indicators

next challenge The rear lights to SC lights.

.

.

.

.

started by stripping off the old ones
only to find on pulling off the rubber a load of rust and then some poking found some holes
so new part of the job.

.

fix the holes

so i not have the money at this point in time to get it done proffesionally and its not a area that is seen so i thought i would give it a crack i know its not perfect but finished article i am pleased with

sand it down and get back to metal,, waxoil it

sanded then waxoiled

then with it back to metal i then filled the holes sanded then primered

waited for that to dry
then toyota 040 white

obviously all this spraying waiting to dry etc etc took some time
so then it was onto the light fitments
was fun but got there in the end but it was getting dark so did not stop for photos but here is finished article
and will get some day pics 2morrow

very pleased with end result and many thanks to jo for the lights

but murray has some cancer that i have to get onto of
and a few more job to do
couple 2morrow
these when i can
colour the letters on cam covers
fit jimi bracket
source some boot plastic clips

(it has none)
ource side skirt
refurb wheels
and sort out its rust

cheers for reading
