Hey I'm working on a mk2 that has sprung a leak. I have narrowed it down to this.
It's coming from this area and only when the cars running. If I put my hand down in the area I can feel a small hole that the water is coming from. It feels like there is a screw that should be in it or something.
Any ideas?
Thanks
If its a small hole which faces out of the exhaust side of the engine which is only a few mm in diameter then its a water pump change. Its actually on the side of the water pump housing itself
When the gland fails on the internals of the pump its designed to leak out of there im presuming for indication and so it doesnt just go inside the cambelt cover and wet the timing belt.

Well its a bit of a nightmare as you need to remove the lower timing belt cover so you might aswell plan in a timing belt change, the pump itself is easy to change out once your down there, i would recommend removing the full housing and swap the water pump out outside of the engine bay as it has a pozi head screw which always rounds off.
I used a blueprint one and it came complete with the housing and made life really easy when I did a friends car.
