The new mk4 mr2?

You know, we just got back from honeymoon and went to a car show in Florida that was in a mall car park (all legit and sponsored by the shopping centre) and there were some amazing Corvette's etc there. Got to look round a new Thunderbird and an old Thunderbird almost side by side.

The Corvette's were all the older shape ('04?) with the pop-ups but the guys there were talking about a newer one and the problems with all the legislation that has resulted in the loss of chrome bumpers, pop-up lights etc - they basically said it was causing the demise of the "individual" car and resulting in all cars looking alike - they have a point I think....

There was a beautiful 50's corvette convertable there too - plus modern cars "all tricked out" as they say.

they need to keep with the pop up lites - those are cool as fuk - makes the car look so much smoother n better

You can't fit pop up lights due to the current safety regulations, I also fail to see how having two great triangles sticking out of your bonnet makes the car smoother?

TBH, until you've scraped your knuckles, broken sockets, twisted off extension bars, bought plus-gas and wd40 like it's going out of fashion, sworn and sworn until there is nothing left to swear, then you haven't lived, and you only get that much fun from a mk1.

When you go through the craners pretty much flat in 4th, with the engine roaring* behind you, and a little dab of lock to keep it all together - then it's all worth it.

I've had a passenger ride in a mk2 tubby at Anglesey, and it was very impressive, but I wouldn't swap it for our silver bucket.

* I say 'roaring' - perhaps rattling would be better. Either way, its the best engine I've ever encountered

heh - not me though, I only fall off at higher speeds than that. Didn't say it handles great, just that it feels good. It does have 20odd year old suspension, so it's never going to handle brilliant

What are you trying to say? hmmm.... my driving is great, er, okay?, er, average?
hmmm... not going to win that one... Lets face it, I'm pretty sure it was my driving rather than the car's handling that landed me in the kitty litter.

Out of our 3 cars, with the other 2 costing a fair few pounds more than the MR2, it has to be said that the MR2 handles the best, is the most eager (engine wise) and definitely the most fun to drive...

Can't say anything about the mk2 or mk3, as I haven't driven either (although I have definitely seen both mk2 and mk3 spun out at the side of the track )
