New to the IMOC- Can I pass MOT?

Post by unityc55 »

I have a Nov 95 GTS Turbo, does anyone think I could get it thru a MOT without a catalytic converter (i.e aussie downpipe), does anyone know any friendly! garages in the south east of london. Ive seen a couple of Rev4 with similar spec, is it possible?

I'm guessing you have an N plate in which case you NEED the CAT. Unless someone can help you out of course

I believe any turbo before 1 Aug 1995 does not require a cat test.

There is a loophole saying that if there is no uk equivilent to a car (i.e MR2 turbo) you do not need a cat.

nope but the car book in the MOT station will show this clearly. Ask the man to check the engine code, 3S-GTE against the chassis code, SW20

He won't find it therefore his MOT book says NON CAT test. This is only for M plate and older turbos

I thought that would be the case but really do want to unleash a bit more power and would help with the unichip if I wanted that done. Anyone know of any FRIENDLY! garages in the south east. Would be grateful for any assistance you can give.
