Re: OEM suspension install

Cheers, will do the lower arm trick. It just didn't look/feel like it could go low enough last night!

Fresh eyes today might help!

Re: OEM suspension install

I've got the drop links, rears are same size and fronts slightly longer, makes no difference at the moment as the shock won't fit haha! Yeh I'm really not bothered by the coilovers, so I won't even entertain adjusting/sorting them out if I decide to go lower I'll probably use springs next time round...

Re: OEM suspension install

Cheers for the reply.

Yeh the car is literally slammed at the moment and on the hardest setting, no movement what so ever! Looking forward to getting it how it should be, just couldn't see why the shock would not line up!

OEM suspension install

Hi guys just a quickie! I'm taking the hsd coilovers off my car as basically they have been set to rock solid, so I've purchased a set of OEM suspension so I can get a feel for how the car should ride before I make further decisions! Anyway I've literally just gone to install a front shock and notic...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Thanks for the reply guys! I've kind of not done much for a couple of weeks due to other commitments! Anyway yes with e1 and ox1 it was basically either roughly 0.100v on idle or 0.900v whilst at 2500rpm and wasn't oscillating between the two. Car warms up like a champ from cold but once it starts g...

Havnt got any further yet, turned my attentions to the brakes and coilovers for now. Just thought I'd see if anyone recognises the car?

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

I didn't actually teat it, my mate did, I believe it was in Voltage.

Car was warm and we used e1 and ox1

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

O2 sensor readings:

We got roughly 0.100 at idle and 0.900 at about 2500 rpm.

Sound right?

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Right not the coolant sensor lol!

But start up is perfect now, revs hold perfectly its as soon as they drop down to 900 it has a problem.

So got to be a throttle off job!

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

I was sort of on the understanding that leaving it running for 10 or so minutes was enough? I'm picking up a coolant sensor tomorrow, its cheap enough so I'll get that in first anyway. Nothing to lose with that. Failing that we are going to test the o2 sensor and then pull out the throttle body. She...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Plugs were black, so first thing we done was swap them for some denso plugs along with a new distributor and arm, was hoping that would be the end of it lol

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

It's only smelling rich when cold....once the temps warm the smell goes away and the idle stops dropping.

Don't worry I am listening though and WILL get it cleaned, just several people have mentioned the coolant sensor causing idle issues....is there anyway to test that sensor?

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

This is where I'm at now..... Found the cause of the sticky throttle and why it was possibly idling high before. The throttle stop/butt had come loose, so throttle wasn't returning to where it should be, possible loose throttle cable too I guess. Anyway got that sorted. At the moment, from cold, I t...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

I'll keep my eye on the sticky pedal but as it only happened just the once and never before or since, then I'll put it to the back of my mind for now, until it happens again! The exhaust has been changed, the flexi was completely shot on the Berk exhaust and I think that was causing o2 sensor issues...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Sprayed some carb cleaner about but engine didnt respond..so I can only assume no leaks, everything looks pretty secure and clean too. What I meant about the throttle pedal was it became stuck at a stand still but a little bit of pressure and it was free again. Only happened the once and not whilst ...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Right, I havnt quite had the time to pull the throttle body off and clean everything up but I've just been having a play around, to find any leaks etc. Havnt foubd much other then some throttle body screws weren't tight. Anyway, pulled the efi fuse and started her up again, all of a sudden idle has ...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Thanks, I'm going to try clean out the throttle body today. The clocks are standard km clocks that came with the car, the needles rest on the pegs and look to me that they work as they should, the fact the rev needle can hunt tells me there is an issue....plus at 1500rpm the car is pretty loud on id...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

OK so went back out today and started from cold, revs bounce around 500rpm and as the temp starts to climb the idle starts to settle at about 1500 as I said last night and seems steady, though it can be a little lumpy until the temp has reached half way. Surely it should rise to 1500 ish when cold a...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Right, think I may have got myself going in the right direction... I had an idea in my head that the o2 sensor was playing up because of the leak in the exhaust. Maybe that caused the plugs to foul too.... Anyway with the parts refreshed and the o2 sensor cleaned I thought maybe I should reset the e...

Re: I'm trying to save this mr2!!

Thank you very much for the reply guys!

I've just found a method of testing the o2 sensor so will try that first, we did pull it out today just to check condition and it was overly dirty or anything but it could make sense due to the blwoing flexi I guess?
