Re: [Mk2] [NA] Spare wheel options?

mine didnt come with one, I would just join the R.A.C matey it is cheaper and easyer, I did try to buy one but couldnt find one cheaper than £30. I don't see how any paid-for roadside assistance package would be 'cheaper' than having an existing spare wheel for free - my insurance includes a breakd...

[Mk2] [NA] Spare wheel options?

Having recently changed from factory 15s to staggered 17s, I wondered if I should exchange my speed limited get-you-home spare wheel with perhaps one of the front 15s instead. If I ever suffer a puncture a long way from home and need to change a wheel, the original spare, with its limited speed rest...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

To be honest I reckon the size you have on the rear is actually the closest match to original rolling radius. Actually I believe they are slightly smaller than original but the % difference should be less than the next size up (245/40/17). So I think on that front you've done all right. Does look a...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

i can't see the pics in work but the rear your describe as 245x35 on an ET35 and 9inch rim. It will look a little stretched as it's an 8inch rim recommended fit (you can easily go to 1 inch higher but it will alter the appearance of the tyre as it's stretched) 245 x 35 is more closely matched to th...

New wheels fitted

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/choxaway/_IGP1278b.jpg Just fitted yesterday - the centre cap's missing on the front due to a mis-machine by Team Dynamics :( . I drove from Plymouth to Bristol for the fitting and SW Tyres (Clevedon) took the wheel to a local machine shop they use but the guy ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

Are you sure you didn't read that as * 2 45's would be a no-no*? Yup, you're quite correct - totally misread what you said. So confused by numbers, I couldn't see the wood for the trees. Do you therefore think the size tyres I've gone for should be OK, then? Anxious to get things just right ...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

The difference between 235/40 & 255/40 is around 2.6% increase on your gearing, by my calculation. Think the sidewall will look a bit big TBH with the 255. I'm sure there's some people on here with these sizes, who can advise on the best profile. 45's would be a no-no for sure IMO. Been away so...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

The 245-45's will be slightly taller than the 40's and will be closer to the outer fender lip only because its taller, but should still clear pretty easy. I didn't roll my fenders and I'm one/mm closer than you. The 245 is a slight stretch vs 255 so the tyre does this: /_\ instead of this: |_| thus...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

I have the 17 x 7 +38mm and 17 x 9 +37mm w/ 215-40's and 245-40's and there is no rubbing at all and I have H&R coilovers.. I had 8" up front and hated it. The car has less steering issues with the 7" up front (IMO). Image Replaced With URL For Quote http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

recommended tyre width for 9inch rim is 265 so a 255 is fine and 245 does look a little stretched. Again depends on the offset. I have 245 40 on et35 and it rubs bad enough to mark the tyre yet my mates 255 40 ET 43 barely marks the tyre Which then leaves me unable to make a rational decision as to...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

nah that will be fine just check the offsets though as that can cause problems. front 30-38 looks and fits fine, rears 40-43 for no rub but if you have coilovers then the rears may need a lower offset which will cause rubbing issues on the arch Hi Allan, It's SWTyres in Bristol and they seem to kno...

[Mk2] [NA] Staggered rims

I'm being offered Team Dynamics Drifz 17x7 front and 17x9 rear with suitable tyres, fitting, nuts/lockers and wondered if having such a width contrast was OK - usually the stagger is 17x8 and 17x9. Would such a width contrast be bad or good news for handling or make no difference?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] What colour wheels?

Well, personally i think you've got the right colour wheels already. I can't picture any other colour that will look as good as the silver you've got. For me, just refurb the wheels and stay with that colour, just add plenty of laquer to give it the glossy look. : http://img.photobucket.com/albums/...

[Mk2] [NA] gearknob thread diameter?

I need to buy a new gearknob that's not one of those universal types as their screws are pretty hopeless for gripping the shaft. Trouble is I don't know the gearlever thread diameter and neither does the local Toyota dealer. Anyone here know?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Anyone chromed standard 15" alloys?

Thanks for the photos. Are they 15s - they look like 16s; maybe an optical illusion. Was it expensive having this finish or is that how they come on Rev4s?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Anyone chromed standard 15" alloys?

PeteJ refurbished his, and they are super polished so look almost chrome like. Don't chrome them though as such, chrome doesn't suit the MR2 at all, not that kinda car  Mine's a '96 caribbean blue 10th Anniversary t-top and I know some like the gunmetal wheels, badges etc but I think the whee...
