Backfire under load

My 2 occasionally backfires and hesitates when coming on boost at WOT. After it's done it, it won't do it again for a while. I've noticed it's usually when I've not driven on boost for a while, any light shed on the matter would be really helpful, I'm not sure where to start.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Emerald Ecu

I've got a bare loom but the ecu is for my long term project, was just seeing if there was a way I could put it to use instead of it sitting there for years. I don't want to go through the hassle of wiring it into 2 different cars if you know what I mean.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Emerald Ecu

Shame because they are good ECU's. I think I'll just go for a power FC then.

Thanks 😊

Never heard of one? Blimey, I doubt I'll have much luck then. 😞

Thanks,

[Mk2] [Turbo] Emerald Ecu

ive got a standalone emerald ecu laying around and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a plug and play adaptor for a Rev 2 turbo? I could wire it all in myself but I'd rather take an easier option if it's there.

Re: Dans First 2

The rotas are 17x9 rear can't remember the offset though, the tyres on there are 255/40/17. They don't fit with that tyre though so I'll be going 245 like everyone else does and 215 front. I'd record it but like you say, the microphone may well just distort it to a horrific noise. Thanks guys :D Dan.

Re: Dans First 2

The twin exit did look smart but I want single exit when I take the spats off, just getting ahead of myself.

Yeah now people have said they like it, I'm tempted to spray the kit and fit it properly to see what it looks like.

Re: Dans First 2

The spec list is just copied from the previous owners ad so thanks for clearing that up :thumleft: I can live with the bay, I don't hate it as such just wouldn't have done it like that myself. Next plans will be to prepare the standard side vents and kit for paint. Take the kit off and look at it st...

Re: Dans First 2

Thanks mate, I can live with the kit but I hate how high the front looks, it needs to go lower but the kit won't allow it. Plus I've already chopped the exhaust ready for removal of the spats. Yeah ct20 changed the car for me.

Dans First 2

Hi everyone, new to the mr2 scene and so far I love it! I bought my first 2 around 4 months a go now, here are a few pictures of how I got it. I saw potential so had to buy it. It's completely rust free just needs some changes for the better *cough* body kit *cough* ... I'll post the spec bef...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Code 43 STA indicator?

I've got an issue with my Rev 2 turbo engine. Basically yesterday morning I put my car on the ramp to change the exhaust over and when I went through the brake rollers my AFM came unplugged and the car ran super rich and only idled awfully. That's fine I just plugged the AFM back in and all was okay...

Fuel and cold start running.

I've got 2 problems with my 2 at the moment, not sure if they are related or not but for one I have pretty bad fuel consumption. Something between 18-20mpg consistently. Worse if I drive hard a lot which is very rare. It's a modded Rev 2 tubby. Second problem is that when my car is started from cold...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Aftermarket exhaust manifolds.

I've got an aftermarket exhaust manifold fitted to my Rev 2 tubby engine but the manifold is obviously a cheapy ebay special as its recently cracked almost all the way around 3 of the runners at the flange. I'm looking at replacing it but I don't know of any decent aftermarket exhaust manifolds for ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Uk turbo dash into import NA?

Oh yeah of course they are ! I was looking at 180mph clocks so just assumed they were for a turbo. My mistake. #-o Right that's brilliant, so basically I can't just swap clusters either way I go about it. Looks like I'll be bps purchasing a mph converter and some dial face stickers. Cheers guys :thu...

[Mk2] [Generic] Uk turbo dash into import NA?

Hey, as above will UK turbo clocks fit into my import NA with turbo engine plug and play? I know it's required to be changed to read in mph but I'm specifically talking about the dash. If not, what is required to make it fit? Mine is currently in km with 180km on the clock. I am desperate to get it ...
