[Mk2] [Turbo] help! replace rings or complete engine rebuild....

Hello all, I looking for some advice and help....not sure what to do about my car… Recently I noticed blue smoke from the exhaust, I have concluded it seem my piston rings may have finally worn… it smokes while revving the engine. I still need to check the turbo but the turbo spins up fine and it do...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] does 299.7bhp sound rite??

I understand what boost creep is, sorry i used the wrong wording when writing my first post, this is why i dont post often, you use a word wrong and everyone has to comment! The only reason i posted to was to point out that to get 300bhp fly is possible on a rev2 using stardard injectors just they w...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] does 299.7bhp sound rite??

ok, boost spike to 19psi, AVCR back it off, probably would have held it if I let it. Shall I change my garage to say 1.15 bar?

only commented thats it is possible to get 300bhp on standard rev2 fueling and now going on about my boost level not being correct.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] does 299.7bhp sound rite??

Yes I did get some boost creep and it peaked at about 19psi but the avcr is set to 1.15bar and last time on the rollers it held 1.12bar to the red line. I have seen it peak at 1.38bar!! amazed its still alive, just hit 300000km!

[Mk2] [Turbo] just reached 300000km!

Just wondering what mileage other Turbos have reached.

Mine is still the original engine just with a few mods.

Mod List (300bhp fly):

stage 2 CT26
1.6mm HKS headgasket
Apexi filter
H&S exhaust
AVCR set to 1.15bar
Standard intercooler!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] does 299.7bhp sound rite??

I would have thouht you needed uprated injectors and fuel pump to achieve 300bhp, seeing as yours is a rev 2 :-k Dont need uprated injectors and fuel pump to hit 300bhp on a rev2 but it would be running at its limits. mine last made 303bhp and 308bhp the time before. Mod list: stage2 CT26 Turbo AVC...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boosting questions

my stage2 turbo - its a ct26 hybrid modified by Owen Developments, like you said it will hold more boost to redline and is gererally better than the standard ct26 turbo. I have not really had a problem with the standard intercooler, it does its job, it will heat soak quicker but aslong as its got en...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Boosting questions

now my car is modified a but I run up to 1.2 bar with no problems, it has peaked at almost 1.4 on the RR, tho i would not recommend that. With standard turbo and head gasket you should be save at 1bar possibly up to 1.1 bar but at this point the turbo is probably producing more heat then doing anyth...

Hello, I found this on ebay but guess it wont be any good for an mr2 due to the lack of air flow, what are your comments?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] help!!!!!

If its a Turbo car you dont need a CAT as a loophole in MOT tests allows imports with no direct UK equivalent (upto July '95) to have a non-cat test

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] A safe model of Turbo for standard internals........

Also 1.05 bar might be abit tooo much for a stock I/C

I am running up to 1.2 bar on stock I/C not had a problem yet, with 303fwhp.

Before someone says your engine will go pop soon, its now up to 290000km! tho i am looking for a new I/C just because i fancy a nice looking one!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] 1.2 bar too much???

I dont think peaking to 1.2 bar is anything to worry about, my boost controller is set to 1.15 bar and on the rolling road has peak to 1.38bar!

Rev2, ct26 stage 2, AVCR, H&S Exhaust, Apexi Filter, HKS headgasket, standard intercooler, 290k km - 303bhp
