Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] wrapped or not ????

I've just had a look at the Aussie site and they use MILD steel so its no wonder they dont want you to lag them, as the wrap will hold moisture when the pipe is cold and they would rot. The coated ones look ok though.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] wrapped or not ????

"oh, more people who think that wrapping your DP is a bad idea! [thumleft]" Not really conclusive though is it lol. Jim himself says the bracket may have snapped before the pipe went. This is classic cheap stainless cracking when put under extra stress- nothing to do with the heat. As ment...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] wrapped or not ????

Alan, on your Starlet motors if you had tubular manifolds and the cat pipe hard bolted to the block that's the most likely cause of the cracking. I'll explain if i can. Tubular manifolds will by nature of what they are, grow in a couple of directions when heating and contract when cooling, so this i...

Re: Tim Bill and IMOC-UK

I dont think we need to wait for you to leave so you can come back at your will(s). If enough names go down and we cast a proper democratic vote you WILL be banned and will have no choice in the matter- simple as really.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Clevite Race bearing sizes

Hi mate I bought mine from Rogue who were the cheapest. The bearings come in standard sizes or 0.25mm undersize or even 0.50mm undersize if the crank has been ground to suit. If your crank is stock size and in good condition then a new set should fit straight in. Get some new thrust washers too if y...

I can only assume there are lots of tongues in cheeks at the moment regarding "ed" lol. Tim, stop acting like the schoolboy all the time and take it like a man. You were banned for what seems like good reason(s) and the mods on here have worked hard to keep this civil imo. STOP posting as ...

Thanks for those vids Patrick. Although its focused on one car, it shows the effort and trying involved to get the (eventual) perfect run. great effort shown to get the ten and thats what i think racing is all about.

200mph Spud? me thinks you may need a cage now!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] upgrading oil pump...

AFAIK the uprated pumps are for rev1 and 2 cos the yanks dont get the rev 3 engine. I looked for one a while back so make sure its a rev 3 if you order one. The prv that people are talking of shimming is the one on the sump on a rev 3 as you suspect (22mm) but i dont think its worth it personally. M...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] please check this cam timing and lobe location

make sure that the cams are in the timing positions , when the engine is at tdc , only on the compression stroke for no1 piston , if the crank is 360 degrees out the timing marks will all line up , but the cams will be set to no2 and 3 tdc and not no1 and 4 like they should be This nearly right and...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] cylinder oil jets ...

All the jets are the same regardless of cylinder postion mate. Try pushing the spring inwards and squirt some solvent or wd 40 through the hole. It may be some small particle stopping the ball from seating properly so blowing through it should clear it. If it makes no difference but a new one from t...

Re: Help me please with my manifold

Hi mate, it likely that the flange on the manifold is not flat. This is common on tube manifolds that are welded up without re-checking for flatness ie xs power type manifolds. I would remove the manifold and get it checked and also check the manifold to cyl head too, i bet thats not perfect either....
