Re: Hello from a new member and owner

Hi Colin

Welcome!

That sounds like a car to look forward to and I don't think mileage is such a big deal as you say if the car's been looked after.

I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Re: How often do you drive your `2?

How can you have a car like that and not take it out for 10 months!?!! :)

This is what I use:

It's not just batteries, but brakes can sieze too

Re: How often do you drive your `2?

Hi Dan

I'm afraid we will see still less and less MR2s, as they're getting old now. I use mine about fortnightly (I try not to use it less than that to avoid siezures). When I do take it out I love every minute!!

Re: i am getting a track car.. which one?

I meant roll bar as in protecting my head :) Lauren, I was thinking at one of getting an MX5 instead of the rev3 mk2, but isn't the mk1 mx5 very, looks it on paper at least, under powered by comparision? And I think they lack roll bars? MX5's don't lack ARB's, they have double wishbone suspension al...

Re: i am getting a track car.. which one?

I don't know that brakes pads are such an issue, really. If just starting to go on track, one of my faults is braking too much. Yes, the brakes must work and work reliably, the fluid must be reliable for example, but I don't think you need hugely powerful pads. There was an interesting thread, I thi...

Re: i am getting a track car.. which one?

Hi Ashley What kind ot things do you think should be done to 'get it set up right'? I've decided to keep my rev3 as a normalish road-going car but primarily for use on track. Marc Mk 2, rev3 NA tin top highly recommended trackday fun, strip it to the bones, get it set up right and you'll have a ball...

With respect Nathan, some valid points have been made here about when and where timing is legitimate, the 'How Fast' product by MSV that I mentioned for example, Sprints another, and where it isn't legitimate, track days, and I think this thread should remain active so that other people can benefit ...

Re: Anyone using Data Loggers?

Thanks Dan. I don't have a compatible phoen for RaceChrono but the Qstarz 818 lookins very interesting, I wonder why it's so cheap compared to the 1000ex.

What am I after? Well, something that will show me my lines and speed. Oh, and l** t**mes, for review after the event.

Re: your lap times

Hmm, yeah I had noticed that one too :( . Well, at least I'm giving myself incentives to improve ... the trouble is my local circuit is Goodwood, and I don't really dare practice at the limit, hence the outing to Bedford. You'll wish you hadn't started this with a diesel Fiesta in front of you. :ton...

I've just seen my entry on the MSV 'How Fast' Leaderboard. I dare say some will take the micky as I'm next to eg a 700cc Smart car, but I'm quite pleased all the same:
