Re: Quick advice please - Speedo/Clocks?

Yep, rev 1 is 89-91 I think.

It might be a mistake they were off a car that was imported in 98 but if they are UK clocks then I presume they are from a UK car.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Stripping the car!

I'm sure there used to be a website years ago where someone had stripped one and weighed each part when it was removed. Anyone remember this? I know the website you mean. I can't find it at the moment, but I have found these instead: http://www.mr2.com/forums/general-racing-information/Toyota-MR2-2...

Good on you for having a go. It may work or it may not, but at least you've learnt a few new skills and enjoyed doing it.

I love how in that first video as the car starts to make a bit for freedom, that guy runs in from the left waving his arm about   "xxxx xxxx STOP STOPPPP!!!". Then he just turns round to the camera smiling "nothing to see here, it's supposed to do that..." ...

Re: What have you done with your frunk??

A lot of people who track their mr2 keep the spare tyre in the frunk. Removing it can mess up the weight distribution and cause understeer. Don't know how much truth there is in that but I'd replace it with something just as heavy to keep some weight over the front wheels. Fridge full of beer perhap...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Snap back oversteer

With a steep slope, sudden impact and momentum of the car's rear swinging about it might end up on its roof at that speed. It’s pretty unlucky however. Most people would get away with just a bent alloy or suspension arm. You just need to be able to react properly to it; a bit of tuition/practice is ...

Re: Who's removed there abs?

But they would be testing that the warning lights come on when the ignition is turned on and then go out again signifying that the system is ok. For example, if a car is on the database as having ABS then the ABS warning light should illuminate when the ignition is switched on. If it doesn't then th...

Re: Who's removed there abs?

Oh right didn't know that. I don't really understand all the new MOT rules as I only have a passing interest in it. I believe kit cars have to pass an individual vehicle assessment? Maybe it's information gets added to the VOSA database then :-k This is a good article covering the main changes: http...

Re: Who's removed there abs?

If it's a UK car it will say on the MOT database whether it was originally fitted with ABS or not. If it's an import then they won't have that information. It doesn't matter if you remove all traces of the ABS, if the car was originally sold in the UK with ABS then to pass the new MOT it has to stil...

Re: Who's removed there abs?

Personally, I don't get why you would want to. My old n/a has ABS and it was very sensitive and a little confused by wet manhole covers and bumps, but it worked. My turbo doesn't have ABS and I have had a couple of hairy lockups when emergency braking, especially when just 1 front wheel locked up an...
