Inner/Outer sills corroded - costs involved?

My car failed its MOT yesterday, the main points being corrosion on the - inner/outer rear sills on both sides, inner rear wheel arch and seat belt outer sill anchor points. I bought the car about a year ago for £2k and its had a respray about a couple of years ago. There's no obvious signs of rust ...

Track Pic

Thanks to everyone who organised the event - very enjoyable. The only person who put a slight dampener on it was the guy in the black honda who was cutting everyone up on the circuit. See the pic below (I'm the red MK1 leading the bunch out of the corner - just about to be swamped and past by everyo...

Re: discoloured interior door handles Mk1

You could try using a plastic dye spray which is available from Halfords. It worked well on my handles and door cards.

Re: Mk1 website car adverts

You could try pressing "control F5" which should get the page from the source rather than any caches along the way.

Re: Steering wheel and boss...

Hi,

I bought a Mountney steering boss from Halfords, it ended up costing something like £40 but it was suprisingly good. It fitted my old Momo steering wheel with no probs. Worst part was trying to get the old Toyota steering wheel off.

Re: Noise is still driving me mad!!

My other car (Lexus) suffered very badly with a droning noise which sounded like wheel bearings. Turned out to be the tyres were 'cupped/scallaped'. Replaced with some decent tyres and it is now whisper quiet. I could actually feel the difference in the height of each of the tread blocks if I ran my...

Re: Real weird electical problem - Reverse lights - low power -

My guess is a poor ground connection. Check the resistance from the bulb ground connector to the chassis it should idealy be 0 but if its more that 1 or 2 ohms then that could be the prob.

Re: new car.. my first mr2 . aw11 t bar

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I looked at this car yesterday and was going to take it to my mates garage for him to check. It was the first MK1 I have looked at and it looked excellent but not having seen any others thought I should get it checked out. Phoned the chap this morning and he said he had sold it...
