Re: [FINALIZED] Mk2 Rev3 V6, 61k miles

Slightly non-technical response here! This involves putting the heads on a flowbench and "trimming" them, for want of a better word. The idea is to make them more efficient by improving airflow through the heads. I believe there's a company in Dagenham that do it and guarantee something li...

Re: [FINALIZED] Mk2 Rev3 V6, 61k miles

I don't think it's anything serious. In fact, having done a bit of research I think it is the pipe running from the filler cap down behind the engine (toward the front of the car) that is the issue. Please be aware this is all stuff I read on the internet though, I'm no mechanic  According to ...

Mk2 Rev3 V6, 61k miles

Hi all, Selling my Woodsport converted Rev3 Mk2 3VZ-FE. New set of Yokohamas fitted last month with about 1000 miles wear (cost £580 fitted). Mileage on the V6 engine is roughly 61k, with a full service history prior to conversion. I'll be very surprised if that's not the lowest mileage MR2 V6 in th...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] water temp gauge

A tip for diagnosing if it's the thermostat that's stuck open is this: Try to drive the car around town, so it's under load but there's not too much airflow going through the radiator. Then stop somewhere safe with a newspaper lol, and let the car idle for 10 mins or so. Might even be less if the w...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] G-limited speedo dials

The other problem with the 110mph clocks is that I can't seem to find anywhere a speedo dial kit (ie lockwood or speed hut) that can be fitted. You need to either: 1) get a speed delimiter and 180mph dial faces 2) get a 160mph UK spec speedo and transplant into your instrument cluster, then get 160...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] T-Bar vs Tin top door glass

The EPC has different part numbers for Left and Right, but not T-bar and tin top. That's not 100% I guess, but it's very likely there is no difference.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] ANother Speed Converter Problem

The speedo pulse goes from the box to the instrument cluster, and from there to the ECU. The gear change / power steering switch off / speed restricting is done by the ECU. The only way to stop it affecting the gear change is not to modify the pulse to the ECU. However, that will also prevent it fro...

Re: [Mk2] [NA] ANother Speed Converter Problem

This doesn't really answer your question, but before you start cutting, are you aware that it's going to screw up your gear changes? The auto box changes gear based on that signal, and that chip is going to adjust the signal by 5/8. Which means if it was changing from 1st to 2nd at 40kmh before, it ...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Rear Foglight conversion parts

Forgot to reply to let you know hoiw I got on. Anyway, went to maplins and they had 1 of them types of diodes instock but after some searching he managed to get some similar rated ones (came to total of £2.30 for 4). Overall I only used 3 and it was very easy to do (one to stop the current going ba...

I had Falken 512s (I think that's the number) on my stock wheels. Never had a problem with them at all.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] No dash lights or rev counter

As it's a rev 1, the speedo is cable driven. So that explains why it's still working. Did you change the 7.5A "Gauge" fuse? It's fuse 2 behind the driver's side kick panel.

Maybe it's better kept simple in that case. Not like the extra and/or higher rated diodes will do any harm lol.

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Rear Foglight conversion parts

Nitpicking I know, but a 21W filament only draws 1.5A at running voltage. So you could use a 1N5400 per bulb at about a quarter of the price per diode. P600A's are rated to 6A, which is a little overkill. But it's only a couple of pounds and P600's will work fine :thumleft: Also, 4 diodes are not ne...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] ariel issue

I'm pretty sure it's HU dependant.

On some of them if you turn off traffic information it doesn't go up in CD mode. On my Kenwood it goes up anytime the stereo is on no matter what
