Ban "Thanks to..." threads!

Post by nailmonkey »

On the basis that:

a) they are annoying.
b) I don't feel they give an accurate impression of the company involved. People only post if they had a good experience, whenever someone posts about a bad experience, they end up getting called a liar, the company fanbois get involved and ultimately it get locked.

Not sure what a better way to do it would be though, an anonymous system would be good but how do you control when people are allowed to comment on a company?

Any thoughts?

maybe a good/bad experience section??

i agree people are quick to post with good service/goods etc,but are reluctant to post about bad stuff due to being called liars!

Could you add feedback to the Affiliates section? (like we have on For Sale). I don't know how it would be policed though to make sure all reports were fair.

One of the nice things about forums like this is being able to see who gets good and poor reports - but as you say, it's very hard to find poor reports of places that last more than a day or two. On the couple of occasions I've been less than impressed I've not bothered posting for the reasons you give and just taken my business elsewhere next time.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the input. Maybe one solution would be to have a good/bad experience forum. If this was implemented I think it would be best if each thread contained only two posts, the post from the customer detailing the good/bad service and a reply from the company involved. It starts getting messy when other people post. In this situation people can draw there conclusions, if the companies reply everytime is that the customer is at fault or the customer is a 'liar' and I was reading it, I'd draw the conclusion that there is no smoke without fire....

Yes - one of the affiliate has already suggested having a feedback section within the affiliates section for feedback on their services and stuff. I think this is a go-er. I also want to have a discussion with the other admins are re-organising some of the boards slightly, and this will be part of it :thumleft:

I too am getting a bit tired of constantly seeing one companies name every 20 threads......with titles such as "big thanks goes out to...." and "once again great service by...."

It just seems like the companies are fighting for a good rep and telling all their customers to brag their services on here.....

I'd be surprised if that was the case - certainly in dealings with any of the affiliates I've never been asked to post about good service.

At the moment how else can you praise a company that has provided excellent service (and possibly done significantly better than you might expect?). When I bought my MR2, I was fairly clueless. I spent a lot of time on here looking for (dis)recommendations for importers, and the same again when I've needed work doing that I can't do myself.

Perhaps getting this into one sub-forum would mean it would stop cluttering up general, but I'd be sorry to see feedback on companies banned.
