"Flame & Thunder", Santa Pod

Post by Lemon Secretary »

"Capture the excitement of motorsport stunts and drag racing - An action packed day for all!"

Hi All,

Seeing as the rain nearly washed us away yesterday , myself and Pete along with Jinxy have decided we'd like to go back to experience Santa Pod for the "Flame & Thunder" event on Saturday, 1st November and we'd like to invite fellow IMOC-ers and MR2 enthusiast along!!

It's the season finale for the venue and includes amongst other things: jet vehicles, dragsters, monster trucks, motor cross, stunt drivers, robot shows, funfair, fireworks display and huge bonfire. Myself and Pete went last year and it was a fabulous day out; we really enjoyed it. The link to see the entire programme for the day is http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_flame.php

The prices as per the website are as follows:
Flame & Thunder, Sat 1st Nov with RWYB, Sun 2nd Nov 2008
Kids under 16 FREE*
a) Saturday - £17 Advanced (plus optional £5 Grandstand), £20 Gate (plus optional £6 Grandstand), Gates open 8am
b) Weekend (which I believe includes camping should you be brave enough!) £20 Advanced (plus optional £5 Grandstand), £20 Gate (plus optional £6 Grandstand), Gates open Fri 2pm
*3 kids per adult. Advance ticket orders are subject to a booking fee. All tickets are non-refundable. Advanced tickets available until Friday 24th October at 5PM online and 5.30PM by phone.
edit: see post below which details discount for those still in posession of their JapShow Finale tickets

Jinxy has also suggested the possibility of staying over at the Travelodge, Wellingborough/Rushden (just off the A45) http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_ ... tel_id=190 on the Saturday night for those of you who have to travel any distance and want it make it a bit less harsh. They're currently doing rooms at £46.00.

What we suggest is that everyone sources their own tickets directly from the venue in order to avoid any confusion over people's requirements, payment for and delivery of tickets. We will have a list of names on here for reference only so please update with your names if you're planning on coming along. Then once we know who is coming, we can arrange the meeting time for the Saturday morning. We could maybe meet just outside the venue so that we all go in together and then we can park together and have a good old natter before the festivities :thumleft:

2. Reema "Lemon Secretary" Tawfiq and Pete "t-bar89" Hartley

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas to add, please feel free to reply. It's not really anyone's event as such, I'm just communicating it as we will be going along regardless and wanted to throw it open to fellow members :D

Hope to see you there!

Reema x

If you had a ticket for either the weekend or Sunday then you are entitled to a discount for a future Santa Pod event! Just found this on the Japshow website.
Dont throw those tickets away people!!!

Rain-Off Values for Tickets

The JapShow Finale was adversely affected by severe weather. Although there is nothing we can do to change this, we would like to thank fans of the event for their continued support and commitment to the scene, and we are offering rain-out values on tickets that reflect the initial purchase price and the level of disruption caused.

Please hold on to your ticket. This can be used as a voucher to get money off future Santa Pod tickets. The rain-off values are as follows:

Jap-car tickets (both weekend and Sunday) are worth £10
Non-Jap tickets (both weekend and Sunday) are worth £15

In order to use your rained-off tickets as vouchers, either telephone Santa Pod on 01234 782828 for advance ticket bookings, or take them with you next time you visit and get your discount on the gate.

Events you might like to consider:

Saturday Night Special, 11th October. Atmospheric extra-long RWYB session. Details at www.RWYB.com.
Flame & Thunder, 1st November. Great family entertainment event with jet vehicles, fireworks and race cars including HKS Drag Series demos and John Bradshaw vs Steve Whittaker grudge match! www.SantaPod.com.

JSF was interesting trying to put a tent up, some of the poles snapped and we were all awake most of the night wondering if we were going to make it through the night alive!!!

could be an option. gates open at 8am so how about we consider meeting around that time? don't wanna be there bang on opening i wouldn't have thought. that gives us time to meet up, mini convoy over to the pod, park up and have a natter whilst grabbing some breakfast and hit the venue!!
